I actually havent blown up my old pc yet!
I havedecided that it is time to get an up grade, this means that i will be building a Pc just for myself, and leaving the old box to the rest of the family!
shopping list
(im looking for good value rather than the very top end of the market, this is still on a bit of a budget)
Mother board
CPU + fan
RAM
PSU
Grafix card
CD ROM/CDWR
Hard drive (assuming that around 200gig is resonable value now form what i have seen)
******lots of lights to go in my new brushed aluminum case*********
also needed as i will be stealing bits form the old computer
monitor (niceand cheep)
Hard drive (around 20-30 gig is more than enough here)
any sugestions as to where i can get a good deal, im going to start building in about 3 weeks, so ill start modding next week some time!!!
What is your budget roughly, and do you want to overclock it at all?
He normally likes to work on FREE
think i got a good crt monitor that i used to have 17" i think if i can find it you can have it.
Should have a 30Gb IDE drive kicking around (IBM) yours if you want it :)

Confirmed as available: IBM Deskstar 30Gb (cant remember if ATA100 or ATA133 but I think its ATA133)
proper job. that HD will come in very usefull.
im not really setting a budget. but as some think to aim for think aroun £500 top end, i wish i had more but i have some many other commitments (bloody car).
ive found the lights and bought them already, got to get my prioritys right, 1- make sure it looks good, 2- make sure it works
--------and im not looking to over clock--------- i cant run the risk how ever slight of blowing up a PC

PM your address again please Lloyd, I cant find where I put it
Well assuming you have a monitor, and you're using the hard drive BB has, for £500 you can build yourself a pretty sweet system!
I'd go with around 1 GB od named memory, nothing special, just a good name like Corsair or Crucial. You can probably think about an Athlon 64 system there, and pop in a nice 6600GT or something.
Ah crap, you DO want a monitor as well :P
proioritys have changed.
not as much money as i thought i had!
im going to limit it to the Mother board, CPU and Grafix card. then up grade the rest when i have a bit mroe money, after my birthday

Give us a ballpark figure to work with :)
I've boxed the HDD up and will send it this week. I have tested it and it is working. I have wiped the partition so it is ready for a fresh install of something.
