Title: Themaltake Xaser II
Post by: Gh0st Face Killah on January 21, 2003, 11:14:26 AM
I have been offered a good price on one of these cases and wondered if folks thought they were any good or knew of any bad points.

Thanks for the technical review Stryker!

Seems to be liked and comes with a shed load of fans in the reviews I saw.  Out of interest, what do you mean by a 'good price'?

Lots of pictures here:

I guess it depends on what the price is, but you can get an aluminium case with windows and fans for a similar retail amount - so it depends on what you want..... personally for retail monry I'd get the Lian Li 6089A.........but then I already did  :D

£80 is the price. I thought that was quite reasonable myself. Am just wondering if my media xp pro would fit in behind the door on the front though. could always resses it I suppose.

£80 is a good price for that case....... but it depends on what you want.  If that's the right type of case for you, then go for it.  But if you hanker after something else then you'll still end up buying a different case at a later date.  Very subjective decision.  Your call  :D

but the frontage looks like a slot machine!

makes me thirsty thinking of pushing 50p in that slot and getting a nice cool coke.

i agree with strykers asthetic judgements,

just get a nice li - lanli or a standard case and mod it yourself it will look much better

Yes I was looking at that one but the £157.00 price tag put me off. I think its available on scan for about £20 cheaper. The other option is one of these with the optional side panel with a window in.

Only £83.00 and the window is £28.00 which is within my budget. Foud a review in the archive on Heatseekerz (http://www.heatseekerz.net/index.php?page=articles&id=15) and they seem to like it and it does look nicer than the Thermaltake case.

Oh desicions desicions.....

I spent ages looking through all these cases and their pros and cons. Then I looked at my current pc case, and found I couldn't see it.....

Problem solved, no point in buying a Monet if you're gonna put it in the attic. My pc lies under my desk, invisible to all but dust mites and the soles of my feet.

Go buy a 24 pack of Stella, a bottle of JD and a quarter of decent skunk with yer cash.    :D  8)

And then drink and smoke whilst using the pc rather than looking at it.

It has a solid front panel on hinges that opens to reveal the drives etc etc

More info here cyber fusion case (http://www.avgs-tech.co.uk/product.htm)

Albert, my case is visible for all to see and I have all the other stuff already so no need to buy more!!

Well I finally made a desicion and went for the cyber fusion case and it arrived yesterday. Took about an hour to swap all parts into it. Shock Horror no cut fingers or scrapped knuckles from sharp metal edges inside, everything is rounded and if it isn't it has a guard strip of plastic on it. The space in the case is amazing and the 5.25" drive bay at the bottom of the case is a lovely touch. So just need to tidy my cabling up so when you look through the window its all nice and neat and I'm done!! One of my friends has said he will do some airbrush work on the case for me as well so I just need to save my pennies up for that now, hopefully it will be done in time for the Lan.

I need to tidy up the power cables to the drives but that is easily done. I'll post a photo of it in the dark as soon as I have one.
