Title: In preparation for......
Post by: TeaLeaf on September 21, 2005, 03:20:17 PM
In preparation for the revamp of the website and forums, can I ask peeps to borrow/beg/steal some decenlty juicy screen shots or images that relate to the games that we play?  It might be nice if we can show several different games as part of our new 'multi-game' format.

Do you have ideas as to what working or topics need to be included as partof our website or forums?

I'd also like some ideas please on how to increase the traffic in each individual gaming area.  Do we need to appoint a 'Champion' to each game to promote and develop the game and get more people interested in what we do?

Are there other otpions to consider?  For example - the WoW Guild I am in currently pay for their hosting of a small forum for their 100 or so members.  Should we consider offering to host their forum as a sub-category of ours to try to get more people involved in our wider community?  All sorts of questions...........but we need answers.

Please post whatever pyschobabble you feel is relevant, it's all worth discussion.

I'd like to coordinate the new website/forum wording with the introduction of the new server hardware after LAN VIII, so let's try to dig around for piccies (or take them) and
think about the things we need to include in our non-game specific website and forums etc.

I am still thinking. Here are some ideas.

New name
We need to replace Dead Men Walking - Tactical Counter-Strike with something that covers all the aspects of the community gaming.
Suggestion:

Dead Men Walking - Online Gaming Community

Webpage update
Should we keep the current design of the page? If not what do we need to do. I don't think I will be around as much as before considering both my soon to be born kid and I travel a lot in my work. Maybe a a new webmaste need to be appointed?

Additions to the first page:
News - latest stuff from the different games. news update regarding LANs, tournaments etc. Maybe some sort of integration from the forum.

Screenshot of the week or Server/forum/VC Quote of the week. Something that alters the appearence of the first page every week.
¨

Hmm that's all for now. Need to think more (and get back to work).

No your not, it's just that I'm thinking - can't you hear the grinding noises (or maybe you thought that was Benny in the next room  )

In abstentia I apologise to Benny

I await the written results of pondering with interest.

Re Sadako's comments, I am in general agreement.  There is also a possibility that we may be able to use vBulletin instead of IPB which may give us a more configurable front end to do exactly what Sadako described.  Oldie and I are munching on that one at the moment and in discussion with Gandalf who already uses this system.

Ok, I'm spending some time on the textual stuff this weekend, so I'd love to see some piccies etc that we can use.  Is this an appropriate time to make a post in the Vision On topic (which should probably be merged with Smite's Spray Shop as a single topic) to advise members we are preparing to rebrand our website and forums officially with the multi-game community aspect that we already are and ask for their help on the graphics front, or do we keep it amongst ourselves?

For some reason this is the first time i have seen this topic.

I generally don't do the graphics stuff anymore due to never ending requests from people on the forums and people who happen upon them. I had no problem with the majority of the community but some people were taking tha piss so stopped doing them altogether.

I have to format my drive and rebuild my new PC at the weekend...after that i can take a quick look.
