lo guys,
When I installed CSCZ, it downloaded it whole self again from steam (thus almost doubling the HD space it required).
Now I am afraid this will happen again with HL2.
Any idea why or how to stop it?
Thx!

this happened to me...now I've got 2 copies on my hdd and don't know whether to delete 1 or not
i deleted mine and it was fine :D
which 1 to delete though?
what's the normal path for your cs?
Normal installation:
1)Download and install Steam
2)Install all the CounterStrike games you have through the program.

This is right only if you purchase it through steam. However, it is cheaper to purchase in the store (as I did).
So anyone?
I bought the CD's aswell. I allways start with installing Steam and take it from there because your username and password is asked. It remembers you having bought the game if I'm correct.
I'll ask my brother since he did a complete reinstall.

Hi there dude, if you click on browse games (in steam) it gives you an option to register any games you have bought so I THINK all you would need to do is click on there follow trhe instructions and enter the key for HL2 and steam should download it saving you installing the game hence saving a load of hdd space.

I would keep the ones installed through steam as if you have the discs you can easily reinstall it if theres any problems. Im not sure but i think steam just downloads all the game content again that you are entitled to automatically, all you really need is the cd key.
