That didn't go so well, you asked for feedback here it goes (negative feedback):
1) No commander mode available, I asked why and never got a response
2) squads not issueing orders on map
3) people in the same squad stealing tanks when you exited and start repairing it
4) not required being in a squad (as far as I could tell)
personal conclusion (for now):
not recommend for tactical gaming, teamwork might work within the same squad but that's about it (and even there they shouldn't steal each other's tanks).
Hopefully they will improve their server/gameplay over time.

That's an interesting response.
I've not seen or heard of anyone steal a vehicle that's under repair. I can understand the lack of teamwork between squads, but that is usually as non-regulars squad off into their own groups.
Perhaps that is something we can work on. Also is there a mod that allows bigger squads? 6 and 1 is no fun.
I'm suprised no-one has mentioned the AAS mod, although against it to start, I think for the number of players we have it certainly makes a better game.
Hopefully he'll return and have a better experience.
Stealing tanks? That must have been a misunderstanding
And yes, there are given less orders with the AAS mod, obviously, but the comms are not quiet, normally. Usually there is plenty of mocking  If he does not know the AAS mod, then it is understandable - We have a rutine for playing now. Some stay back, some move on, only two flags in mention. But in a good typical game, there is still loads of comms and orders!
Bigger squads would be great! Haven't seen a mod for that, though...
There were several random players on and off who were doing their own thing last night and weren't joining the squads. No-one ever seems to respond to the text chat.
sometimes there is a distinct lack of orders and it can be very frustrating when the SL isn't responding over comms and isn't trying to gather the troops together for a mass attack (having that marker showing the next flag to attack or the current one to defend is very handy!) and there are certainly moments when there's a lack of co-ordination when it comes to attacking/defending. The tank-stealing I've not come across myself, though with non-regulars it might be a problem. Anyway, if you want repairs you should sort out a teammate to travel alongside and both of you go engineers - then you don't have to leave it unattended! Can't have the enemy stealing your tank!
I think when there's 7+ players we should make an effort to use Teamspeak and to split into smaller fire-teams. That way we can all talk to eachother but each squad can have it's own task highlighted on the mini-map. Balancing defence&attack needs more orders...

:withstupid: what he said.
Keep the thread a bit clear please. Thanks.
Hello to all,
I (kalomni/kaptainflam bf2 nicks) tried your server for the first time last night for a round on Dragon Valley and I have some questions:
- why unlocked weapons are not available ?
- why don't unlock all weapons as like on oap-clan server (very popular server) ?
- why no commander ?
- why this very strict path for capturing flags (aas mode) ?
- yesterday american side was stuck on the island flag and no one tried to take another flag for diversion, quite strange...
sorry for my english, I'm not a native uk person ;-)
otherwise it was a nice round, funny with a lot of opportunities, even a good chopper pilot ;-)
see u soon
KF.

some questions
The AAS mod (ordered flag capture) is meant to create intense battles concentrated near just one or two flags as on a big map with only a few players you end up running around capping flags as fast as you can. Hopefully AAS means we have to use more organised play to win.
Some maps have certain flags which are very very hard to capture once the defenders have set up camp.
Sometimes you have 3 or 4 people on one team whose computers load the map up a minute or two before the rest and they get a few minutes head start to capture flags so that the map ends far too quickly before the defending team have a chance to fight back (is there any way to set up a round restart 2 minutes into each map without an admin having to do it? Some sort of script?)
I'd like to see the unlocked weapons too, as I cba to spend time playing on ranked servers to enjoy the extra bits of the game. Maybe a passworded evening so our server doesn't get swamped?
If one team has enough of a ticket/flag advantage it is sometimes advisable to defend (attackers generally lose far more "lives" than defenders) to wear the other team down, when pushing forward might result in a successful counter attack?
It's usually a lot of fun :) some maps are definitely better for AAS than others!
thanks for infos suicidal_monkey,
anyway, I'm gonna try again your server because I don't care about ranked servers and I prefer teamplay. My last problem is about voip... Is it possible (authorized) to get/give orders by chat commands instead of voip ? because if voice orders are misunderstood, it's a pity...
Cheers.

good stuff, hope to see you on there! By all means use the voice commands! I use them all the time too (my flatmates don't appreciate me yelling about tanks and flags while they're trying to sleep ;) )
Voicecomms/voip is essential for chatting and is often used for discussing things, but if the command is simple then please do use the voice commands :)
kill you soon kaptain :P
Oooh - always nice to see some kind words from Apophis (TG lead admin).
See here (http://www.tacticalgamer.com/showpost.php?p=342926&postcount=25).
Mmmm, TG site would not load at all from here. It must be down for maintenance or something?

We encourage people to join squads... why not an automatic kick if someone doesn't join a squad afer, lets say, five minutes?
