Title: Trigger ports?
Post by: CoolHand on October 11, 2005, 06:52:07 AM
I've had some trouble lately with my IP phone, computer and BF2. I finally narowed it down to a faulty router. So, I replaced it and I am now running my trusty old D-Link DI604 rev. D1.

In my old router, I could easily set up port forwarding. In the D-Link, I find no such thing. However I have the opportunity to program the router for special applications that require multiple connections. Sounds nice, huh? But the router then wants to know what trigger port to use, and what trigger type to use....

I'm fairly new to this sort of thing... can anypne tell me what is the triggerport(s) and trigger type(s) for BF2?

Here is what the instructions for the router says: "Trigger Port :This is the port used to trigger the application. It can be either a single port or a range of ports. Trigger Type :This is the protocol used to trigger the special application."

Somewhere on these forums there's a link about ports and forwarding and so. Me and my oldest brother used it. I'll see if I can find it again for you.

Sorry dude erm the only online port checkers i know of would be for checking that ports are open/closed or stealthed ie for checking that your firewall is working, symantec has one or you could try http://www.grc.com (http://www.grc.com)  click on shields up then scroll down again to sheilds up and you can do custom scans or scan common ports etc. It shows you the result of each port probe as it is running ,but if your firewall is working it shouldnt find any(or they should all be stealthed) so i dont think itll help. Bill Gates mob do a port reporter tool, that might help you more

It did. Tried BF2 on a TG-server today with 32 players on. Worked like a charm. Also got to try my new 2 gig ram, and my newly softmodded geforce 6800 (opened up all pipelines). Everything running on high, exept lighting which I run on medium.

No lag, no artifacts, no connection problems, no problems.   :dribble:

Thanx.
