Title: 1.03
Post by: delanvital on October 11, 2005, 02:06:07 PM
So I finally tried 1.03 two days ago, haven't had time to play. I must admit, the flag tags on the maps, the supply crate signature on the map and the list of persons in the vehicle are awesome details.
However, I still feel that the bug with red/green tags is there. I was in a squad on a ranked server, where one of guys entered a damaged tank, and the tag went red for just long enough for others to take him out. Scary. We all saw the tag as red. How about you guys? Have you seen it? No, not the wild UAV...

I had a very querky thing happen at the LAN - where an enemy APC and tank appeared GREEN instead of RED during a game. Caused me a lot of problems as SL - as I kept trying to give orders to vehicles I didn't have!!!

...I also saw the UAV at the LAN - But Paddy denied he saw it too!

I'm having a lot of trouble with the "change camera" key - it never seems to work in jeeps so I end up having to drive from the drivers perspective. The change view key does, however, work for most other vehicles! weirdness...

Interesting. I never switch views, I always use the drivers perspective. Sometimes I swap the instruments away in the helicopter, though... but never outside view. Is it better? I can imagine you can spot C4-attacks on your tank more easily...

I  too have this problem. I thought it may have been a server setting as I have no problems with switching views on other seervers.

I haven't really tried it in other vehicles as yet so am not sure about the APC etc.
Strangely enough, at the LAN it was fine in any vehicle... ?

I find it better for driving jeeps, or anything else when the route is a bit tricky, around (when in a tank/APC I tend to stay in the driver perspective though) You can also swithc to the reverse chase camera when reversing (you might be able to fully turn 360 when driving a tank but you cannot look over your shoulder when driving a jeep...)

at the lan it was fine in any vehicle sometimes and then some other times it wuoldn't work while in a jeep. I'm thinking there may be a key conflict somewhere...I can't set my change view key in controls...keeps saying 'c' is in use, but it isn't...

Got the same issue, but I think it's probably better, I switch to chase cam in a base when flag capping so I can see any crafty gits behind me with C4.

Limiting that does make it a bit more 'real' and stops the power of vehicles over-tipping the balance of the game.

Hmmm....

Do you guys have the ability too see around the tank, instead of just out the windows?

You do if you can use the external view C key or F10/F11 I think, but I think this has been disabled in 1.03, its particularly useful for spotting C4 weilding SpecOps wannabes, or even more daring engineers baring mines and of course AT guys - nothing more satisfying than reversing over these guys when they are sneaking behind you - , I did a few times at the LAN  :D

Sometimes it still works in BF2, but seems intermittent on 1.03

maybe 1.03 reset some of the key configs to a default somewhere and it's causing conflicts. I notice that helicopters and planes have their own "change view" keys to allocate...
