Title: Standard of play keeps getting better!
Post by: Ranger on October 14, 2005, 09:04:49 AM
Delanvital mentioned last night how games were getting harder because he noticed how the standard of play was getting better...

Sure enough, last nights games proved the point.

After a couple of short warm up games, Karkland turned out to be really hard work...The battle at the Market Place was blood, sweat and tears!

:)

Even though we lost Karkland in the end, it could have gone either way - crucially we lost the Market momentarily JUST as someone managed to cap the Train Wreck. The loss of two flags almost simultaneously was too much and we were doomed after that...

I was run ragged by Armitage and Bergan last night - I was out of breath just sitting there and playing...

It got so bad that I just couldn't break away and was busting to go to the lav for the last 10 minutes of the game!!!

:)

We are also seeing visitors of a very high standard (IMHO) visit dMw.

All together there doesn't seem to be any 'easy' games these days (I don't count the last games at the end of an evening because we are all tired and many of the 'gang' have retired to bed!).

Funniest moment: Spawning on my SL on the roof of the Hotel in Karkland only to find I had spawned too near the edge and I fell off...Luckily, on the way down I noticed an enemy soldier climbing up the ladder to the roof and was able to warn my squad mates before 'SPLAT!" I hit the floor!

Cheers to everyone for great games (as usual) - y'know, I've almost completely stopped going on ranked servers!

;)

that was the first of 3 suicides I revived last night :P

I'm getting a bit better at parachuting off buildings...I always switch to medi-pack before I jump...just in case
I'm always hitting f9 instead of 9...they're next to each other on the z-board

you're right about the standard of play improving...I said as much to Toxteth last night...

Bergen was a bit good...hope he returns soon

yeah. bergen was an excellent player. Shame he was always on the other side :( i'm still full of knife wounds from when he parachuted off the roof and knifed 2 of us in the back before we could do anything :roflmao:

Yup. Karkand was a cracking scrap last night. It was going really well until i got tired of hiding as SL and then I started dying a lot. Sorry guys but after 30 minutes of hiding on the roof I just had to kill something :)

The market Square roof is definitely the best position for MEC SL on that map but I think lasts nights lesson was that I needed someone to watch my back and didn't ask anyone.

Good game all.

heh heh, I think that may have been my doing in a humvee... We'd been struggling to hold the market for ages and I guessed you might not be defending the bridge very much. As it turns out TOW missiles cannot penetrate the fences and neither can "normal" infantry weapons. I parked it inside the fencing and proceeded to wipe out 4 or so players with the 50 cal as that does penetrate fencing... Karkand is definitely the best map for AAS 8)

You bring up a good point actually...

I think it's a bit unfair asking someone to be SL right through a game - especially as our games seem to be getting a lot longer these days (how long did that Karkland go on - it seemed like hours! LOL).

Maybe we should have a rotational SL...

We could change halfway through the game or simply when the current SL says 'I'm tired and want a change'.

I am always up for playing SL so would gladly take over.

That way you get a bit of leadership practice AND a bit of action!

Eek! That means at some point I would be SL! I'll tell you in advance, I would be a liability as SL. Can I have an 'excused SL' chitty please?

LOL...

Maybe we should just ask everyone who wants to be SL when we get fed up with doing it!

:)

We may have some very short leaderships though! ("What do you mean I'm SL?" Leaves squad and re-joins!)

:D
