In the interests of variety - how about a non-AAS, small maps evening this coming week?
Bit more chaotic than normal - but, with being small maps, not so much running about when a flag gets taken behind you!
:)
...Or does anyone have any other preference?

Duvel, did you manage to sort your problem with BF2 out? Is it running ok now?
I think that a non AAS night is a good idea but would require a decent number of players online to make it really worth while. At the lan i wasn't keen on a none AAS mod game but given the number of people there wasn't a chance for chopper capping and inane running around chasing flags. However with say only 6 people playing i think a non AAS mod night would suck.
Maybe a sunday non AAS mod event? ALong with global unlocks so those who haven't tried some of the unlocks can pick up the kits of the dead suckers who do have them unlocked.

It was a soundcard related problem. Seems that that was the problemmaker (needed updated drivers). I'll add a nice list of what people could do to get BF2 working.
I got like 15 points on how to make it work. 8)

I agree with FBG, you do really need a decent amount of players if we are turning AAS off.
I'm pretty sure we can't have weapon unlocks because we don't pay for a ranked server :(

Hi FBG...Good points.
This is kinda why I suggested small maps with it - so we aren't rattling around, running all over the place on a big map.
At least non-AAS on a 16 player map will keep the number of flags you have to cover to 4/5. With shorter distances in between means you should be running into the opposition a lot!
(Kubra Dam only has 4 flags on the 16 player. And is fairly much just a short run over the top of the Dam - with the lower level flag to add some room for flanking.)
:)
I don't think that dMw is allowed to unlock the weapons? (Something to do with the EA licence - I think???)
there's several small 16 player maps. I think the oilfields one (centre flag is surrounded by BIG cylinders) has 3 flags, and most are 3-4 flag affairs. You do need at least 2 squads per side in non-AAS to defend your capped flags, and will probably spend more time rushing around capping undefended flags. It does give the last 2 guys left a chance albeit a slim one though!

No, that's a dMw choice AFAIK

My mistake...As you say.
I've just been over to 'Tactical Gamer' and they have a private 'unlocked' server for TG members.
So it's not a EA rule as I thought.
So the question is now - why don't we have an unlocked?
The obvious answer would be to make a fair playing field - as many dMw guys never play BF2 on anything BUT dMw's BF2 server, they would always be at a disadvantage to people like myself who have most of the unlocks.
...You could argue that it isn't actually all that much of an advantage actually, as I have tried all the unlocks and I still play with the default assault rifle most of the time!
But then I would say that wouldn't I - as I have the advantage of being able to choose!
In the end - the unlocks DO give a bit of an advantage to those that have them - the G3 - for example - has a damage of 40! And the monstor .50 sniper rifle can penetrate bullet proof wind shields!
So - I say 'no' to unlocks, even if we can have them.
I wouldn't like to do well in a game just to have someone complain - "Well, of course you did well - YOU had the unlocks!"
On the dMw server you have the option, everyone has all unlocks, or no-one has any....

just to see what they're like :eyebrow:

I think you have to go earn them first. As I understand it, you go on ranked servers, be very brave and they give you nice guns. Then you can come on non ranked servers which have unlocked weapons allowed and beat the living sh*t out of them!
Is that how it works?
