As the big dude formerly known as my brother hasn't said anything to anyone I thought I would do the honours.
On 27th October tugs and his family will be taking a small trip - a one-way trip - to Atlanta, Georgia. :blink:
Don't worry, they've upgraded to Premium Economy, so the trip will be comfortable, but it is still only one way and damn it, I'm going to miss him and his family. :(
In any other circumstances I would usually have been at the airport to wish them a fond farewell and to make sure they actually got on the plane :P But the timing just hasn't worked out (due to visa delays etc) and I will actually be out of the country myself when he leaves for the USA. So, as I won't be able to say goodbye in person, you can either show up at the airport to do it for me, or post your best wishes and goodbyes here in this thread.
With luck I'll get out to Atlanta to see tugs some time next year. With even more luck he'll still be able to visit these forums and even join the gaming servers for a quick blast, but given the time difference it will be more difficult than it already was in the UK for him to make an appearance.
I'll miss you at the LANs tugs and I'll miss you not being in the UK any more. Safe journey dude.

My brother and his family emigrated to the States 6 years ago so I know how you feel.
Tugs - I wish you and your family all the best and I'm sure that you'll be happy Stateside. The standard of living, the education system, the countryside - all very idyllic. Just a shame it's stuffed full of Yanks :P
And TL, it's a but a small hop over a large pond - My and my bro see each other every couple of years which isn't too bad - and at least you'll now have a legitimate use for your webcam :whistle:

I have made it to ATL!
I didn't get on the forum in the week before we left - barely had time for sleep, let alone anything else :-/
It's warm here at the moment - mid 20's celsius. Having a ball fighting against the fact I dont' have a social security number yet, and the federal government requires an SSN to be filedin triplicate if you wish to do so much as fart in public. Which anybody who has met me will appreciate is something I am likely to need to do :)
No house yet - waiting on sale of my house in the UK first. I wave goodbye to my wife and 2 kids tomorrow as I pack them on a plane up to stay with her parents in NY, while I kip in the spare room of some friends here for a few months :( On the upside, I just booked flights up to see them at Thanksgiving. Right now (unless we get a house between now and then), we're not even sure if we'll make it to see eachother for Christmas. *sigh*
Still, this is the price we pay I guess.
Thank you all for your kind wishes, and once we get settled down in a house and start to actually enjoy the lifestyle as a family, then I'll be able to unpack my PC from storage and start gaming... fingers crossed!
