Question:
What did you think of the "no vehicles" night?
Option 1:
votes: 0
Well? What did you think?
It looks from the vote that most people like the idea of doing this twice a week..Which is nce (thats what I voted for)...BUT...
Which nights?
I wouldn't like it to be the two of the BEST nights (most populated) as that would be unfair to those that prefer the vehicle BF2...
I put down the BEST nights as being Tuesday, Friday and Sunday evenings (server stats may show different).
SO I would plump (IMHO) for Thursday & Sunday or Tuesday & Saturday.
What do you think?
I've voted for once a week. Sure it's cool but I like BIG guns aswell ;)
Was good, except needs lots of bodies imho. Was a bit of a drag early doors.
I think if we're doing proper infantry only, no transport other than feet, then you'd have to have a culled set of maps, keep it to maps with shorter distances to cover. If you're going to go for the bigger maps then you either have to have biggish teams with enough to split into defence and attack, or you allow vehicles for purposes of transport/retreat. I'm sure there was a mod that either stopped all vehicles spawning or turned all vehicles into jeeps?
What about making Sundays a regular Infantry night then. As it seems to be the night most people can play.
As for foot only, I can see use having to really limit the maps down, even more than we have done already. The current map list for infantry only are Karkand, Mashtuur, Zatar, Songhua, Fushe, Sharqi. but if we have to walk everywhere, it will end up karkand and Mashtuur. which I can see turning old very quickly.
The other possibility is to use smaller maps, but we would have to turn AAS off.

The smaller maps are ideal fro infantry and means we can use ALL the maps in the inventory then...
To be honest - I wouldn't worry about the loss of AAS when using smaller maps. The main reason we like AAS is that it suits our small numbers - it keeps us all in a small area, so the fighting is intensive.
Small maps do the same thing - but with a greater ability to flank.
So I think if we had to do infantry only on regular small maps (no AAS) we would get just as much enjoyment - perhaps with the extra spice of being able to do so extra flanking.
I don't know what everyone else thinks - but as we would only be doing this to provide 'variety' once a week, I think any change of pace or format would be nice.
...Besides, all this is good practise for the '5 v 5' mini-league I proposed! LOL
And, yes, Sunday night would be a good one.
:)
I've noticed the standard of infantry shooting/grendading/grenade launching etc has really improved since we started doing infantry only... we are definitely improving. :D

Yep - relying on our side-arms rather than the big guns on vehicles has certainly improved 'head to head' face-offs...
I think whe you are a novice there is an instinctive tendency to 'hide' in vehicles - quite natural really!
But this puts you at a distinct disadvantage against those players who prefer to play 'on foot'.
As much as anything it is down to psychology. We saw some of this when we played [KoD] - a lot of our inability to perform well again KoD was due to our psychological state as it was to do with thier Dolphin Diving techniques...
In an infantry to infantry stand off we were ill prepared - but now I think we are all getting much better at tackling dug in infantry.
We are getting some really good Squad Leaders too.
