Now this could just be me - I'm having a hell of a week - but I'm beginning to get a bit pissed off with what seems to be a never ending line of posts that seem to promote other communities or other services. Duvel has posted for TG, BoD and any other TANGO organisation he can think of and I'm getting a wee bit miffed.
If BoD want to pimp their rented server sale then Nethany can ask us himself, why the hell is a dMw member posting it here?
Now before I go off and commit hari (yep, my week really has been that bad) I thought it worth asking you Admins for your collective views on such posts and more importantly, whether or not we should have any formal guidelines for promoting other communities or advertising other services?

I think DuVeL was doing it from an "I'm trying to be helpful" point of view rather than anything else. We have to remember that many of us take little part in CZ these days and consequently people have drifted to other communities. Its not their fault if they end up talking about what goes on there. We are the ones who have moved away from CZ to BF2 and WoW. I have tried to keep the friday night CZ sessions going but to be honest none of the people I want to play with are there very often, namely TL, OB, Ron, Squonk, Sadako, Albert, and the rest of the old crowd etc etc, so I find myself looking for them elsewhere and if they are playing BF2 I go play BF2, if LFS then I'll play LFS.
I do agree with your points about pimping though we don't need it other than people posting about good servers elsewhere (TG etc) as we have always encouraged people to do that.
At present the problem is that other than a collective love of certain PC games we are not doing anything regularly enough as a community. No-one wants to lay down 3 line whips like "All Admins will play CZ on a friday night" because it just wouldn't work. However, I do think we need to consider how we can bond the community more as it might fragment otherwise (slowly admittedly but I think it could happen)

I think on balance, dMw are not here to sell server slots for another clan, so unless you folks decide to the contrary I'll just leave the post here.
