Title: Wanna try a new mod?
Post by: OldBloke on October 28, 2005, 11:26:16 AM
Well not exactly new but progressed to the point where it would be worth giving it a run out ...

This looks interesting -

What impact will this have on the server and the players?

Is this a server side mod only - or would we have to install anything?

(Just bear in mind that the official BF2 'Special Forces' expansion comes out in two weeks...Just thought I would mention this.)

:)

But I like the mod.

Note: It's a client/server install so you'll need to download a 115MB file. (http://realitymod.com/downloads/file_client.php?id=18)

Looks good. :thumbsup2:

Am I right in thinking it's a client-side mod?  (EDIT: too slow, I see it is)

I'd be willing to try it.  But won't be impressed if it screws things up whenever I want to play on a vanilla BF2, or ranked, server.

Yes, this worries me too - PLUS, it worries me that we have just been starting to attract a few more irregular/guest players on the dMw server, will this put them off?

Pity we didn't have a second server to try this on - but still have our normal dMw BF2 server too.

It would seem you can start the mod or the strawberry version with no ill effects.
Sorry, vanilla.  :)

Ooh, looks good but a little complex! Surely with more variables it wil mean more data, and this more lag etc? My comp is slow enough as it is... :(

I can't remember my name sometimes. :(  So you've no chance!

BTW, I've installed it and started the game with it and it joins dMw server with no issues. So I guess it's unisex.

I'm going to hang fire on this mod for now.

As Ranger pointed out, SF is due shortly and it's worth waiting to see how that pans out before jumping in with a major mod.
