So what we fancy doing tonight on the server ?
Infantry only normal maps, infantry only small maps no AAS, small maps no AAS or just leave the sever alone :).
Just be there :)
We have been missing numbers of late and, although we had a terrific 3v3 last night, we could do with more players.
Yeah sorry about that. I have been away a lot lately and I don't play Friday or Saturday evenings (quality time with the wife.) I do get on late if I'm lucky. spent the last two late night sessions on TG server. now I can't wait to get back to the tranquillity of our server :)

Hmmmmm...
Yes, I was thinking this last night while on the [TG] server with a load of other dMw guys!
Great time at [TG], but perhaps at the expence of the dMw server.
Trouble is that when dMW guys don't find anyone on the dMw server they seem to automatically transfer over to the [TG] server as a good second alternative.
All well and good - but we were just starting to get a good number of people on the dMw server - with some guests coming along on a regular basis. We are now in danger of loosing this if the dMw is found to be empty on a regular basis...
What to do?
I think X-Fire can help us out a bit - if we see a group of dMw guys on X-fire - enough to make for a good game - then we should be messaging around to make sure that everyone available gets back on the dMw server.
Also, we should maybe nominate a specified 'away day' for visits to servers like [TG] - Maybe Fridays or Saturday nights...Reserving the rest of the week as dMw days (especially Sunday night).
Admin: Is there any way to check server stats to find out which are the busiest days on the dMw server so we can pick a good 'away day'?
What suggestions does anyone else have????
dMw Vs dgs.DLM on Sunday the 30th of October 2005 at 21:00 but otherwise I'll be there.

Try this :) (http://www.serverspy.net/site/search/server.html?a=87.240.138.20:16567&g=27)
The way I try and play is. earlier in the evening/afternoon I play on Ranked server or play with planes or choppers on our empty server. between 7-8 and 10-11 is our server time and after that is TG time.

Yep - my schedule is a bit like that:
7-8pm 16 player ranked server for warm up...
8-11pm dMw server...
11pm until bed [TG] server.
The exception is Friday and Saturday nights - the reason being:
a] Friday night used to be dMw CS:CZ night
b] Saturday night people actually seemed to 'go out'! LOL (Have real lives in other words - who'd have thunk it!)
What we need is some sort of pledge from the dMw BF2 guys to say that "on these nights we will attend dMw server" - and "on this night it is an 'away day' visit".
QuoteFriday night used to be dMw CS:CZ night
USED TO BE?
pfft.
:P
:withstupid:
There were some cracking CZ games last friday - you shoulda been there :)
I even killed Hippy once
I'm away from my gaming rig most fri, sat and sun nights, but am typically around most nights other than that, playing BF2 (though a good game of CZ ...or SOURCE ;) wouldn't go amiss now and then!) on the dMw server. If no-one's on at 8pm I'm usually using Xfire to find out where they are. If they're on the TG server I might go join in, otherwise I typically just hang about until a few more turn up for some dMw_server-ing. Then stick to the dMw server until it quietens down later on...
I think it's just a case of checking in on Xfire and the dMw servers to see where the rest of dMw are playing. If there's enough around then we usually migrate to the dMw server pretty fast... I prefer having a ping that starts at 40-50 over one that begins at 140 (I say begins due my rubbish over-subscribed telewest connection causing my ping to leap towards 1.2s and more...)

True :frusty:
Jeeps only? Not sure that works.
Map size, jeep availability, identifying a 'jeep' etc etc.
What I think would work well is an 'all-weapons free' night on a map suited to it. We could even let the unlocked weapons loose (seeing how most are crap anyways :narnar: )
Gulf of Oman anyone?

Unlocked weps - is there a chance that the IP will be banned from the in-game browser?
What is the problem with some people? The server was setup for INFANTRY ONLY + JEEPS and I was still getting shot by gits in APCs and Helicopters. These were not visitors but regular players and that is sad :(
The next person who does this will get banned - it ruined my night :(

Is it time we published a 'schedule'?
Something like this:
dMw weekly play schedule
Monday: Anything goes AAS (dMw server)
Tuesday: Anything goes AAS (dMw server)
Wednesday: dMw 'Away Day' - Ranked Server
Thursday: Anything goes AAS (dMw server)
Friday: dMw 'Away Day' - [TG] Server
Saturday: : Anything goes AAS (dMw server)
Sunday: Infantry only night - JEEPS ONLY- (dMw server)(The away day thing is just an idea - and would ONLY be IF there isn't enough folk on the dMw to warrent games there - Wednesday and Fridays usually being 'slow' nights on teh dMw server)As usual I will probably be accused of being a 'control freak' for suggesting this - but if there is a set regular day for infantry only then there should be no excuse for not knowing.
Just remember, we don't all play BF2 ans have other things going for -=[dMw]=- aswell. We are still playing CS:CZmatches and so which in my book come first and after that BF2. Wednesdays and Sundays are the days we play those matches so in the evenings you'll be finding me in there. I also would like to uphold the Fridaynight CS:CZnight as from what I've heard is that people really liked (although me not showing up).
You exBIGguys really should give it a try. TCS, the way 2 play.
I'm playing loads of BF2 aswell and you'll find me in there if needed. I'll sort out my Xfire hopefully tonight so I can leave it on aswell.

Really, Duvel - this rough idea for a play schedule is for those guiys who DO play BF2...
CS guys can do what they want! LOL
Tried CS and have to say I didn't really enjoy it that much. I found it repetative and dreary...
(I think the UT version of CS - 'Tactical Ops' - was better, had better bigger maps and better weapons.)
I can't see me ever playing CS as it is at the moment - BF2 is simply miles better, more varied, has bigger and better maps AND with 'Special Forces' coming out in the next two weeks it will have a small unit tactical element too!
Sorry!
:(

Ahem...
I joined in after the game had been on for a while (at least it seemed that way). I played for quite a while before I saw the message Jeeps Only. Still, as everyone else was flying helos and driving APCs and tanks, I figured we played a match where vehicles were permitted.
Banning people for this is not really a good idea - some of us come to the server after a while, and I would not like to get banned for something I didn't know about. I didn't check the forum before joining the game, so I had no idea that it was an infantry only-match, until well into the game.
I think Rangers idea is a good one, making a schedule. However, it would mean that sunday (my regular gaming evening - the other evenings are highly irregular) would mean only infantry games for me :eyebrow:
I have another idea: How about making a sticky thread that is named "tonights game" , where the rules for the server that night is published. A schedule could also be published there, so that the schedule would be the rules for the day unless otherwise stated.
Anyhow, the best maps for infantry only is the citymaps, IMO.
The current rules are stated in the server message which you see while waiting to join and are repeatedly displayed on the info at the top of the screen along with the AAS messages. Additionally, the server name changes when it is infantry only.
All we ask is that people bothered to read what we have taken the time to set up. If they cant be bothered then I' can't be bothered to avoid banning them to prove a point. get my drift? ;)
Any regular "banned" for this would not be perm banned but he would need to post a request in the forums to get the ban removed which I or any other Admin would do.
One very longstanding dmw member was very nearly banned by OB last night for doing exactly this sort of thing even though there are numerous places where the relevant information is available.
If you went on anybody elses server you would (I hope) read the server messages while joining so that you get a heads up on any rules. Why treat your home server any differently?
As stated, all we ask is that people take the time to check what the server is running, AAS, Infantry only, Infanrtry and Jeeps or full blown BF2. I don't think thats asking a lot tbh :)
Just a quicky,we played infantry only which is fine, then zatar we resorted to everything with server intro changed to suit.I left and came back, server intro was on everything, when I entered the game after about 5 mins was told infantry only! Now I dont mind either way and I know admins have a thankless job, been there, not nice ;),but it gets confusing for us old ones if we see one thing and are told to do another. :D
name and shame man, it's the only way!!
was it me? huh huh?
This is really simple, if someone joins your side, tell 'em. Job done. Everyone here can speak last time I checked, and with one exception that I know about everyone has sound. So, just tell your cohorts when they join. Job done.
And I'm serious about naming and shaming, it's the only way forward.

Will do BB, I'm guilty of this :( but last night we changed the rules after a few games...
What I mean Ranger: You're saying you want a schedule to sort stuff out with getting the servers a bit fuller and to set up what is what night (atleast that's what I'm getting from the message) but do keep in mind that we are still on CS:CZ and so aswell.
And for not playing CounterStrike, I think you're afraid to join ;)
I must hold up my grubby little paw.
Outofsynch was flying about in a chopper (map with the hill in the middle with a combat chopper on it) and I am sure he was on the previous map. So we hid and sent messages and still he hovered about, so in the end I jumped into an APC and peppered him full of little holes. He eventually went away.

Sorry I put my hand up to flying chopper on zatar but not on previous map, was it mashtur?. I only got in chopper after seeing message from OB saying "all vehicles" but got conflicting messages from team mates I did get out and leave well alone when asked. My apologies I dont want to get a ban :-( as the dmw server is by far the best BF2 experience available that I have found.
Perhaps you could restrict the map rotation to city maps on a sunday allowing perfection of tactics for karkand etc.
I agree with earlier post that city maps seem to be the sensible option for infantry only.

Exactly. I do read the server message, but I didn't see anything about infantry only (I joined at Zatar). I did see the message in-game, after a while, but as everyone else was flying/drving, and noone was complaining or being kicked... well, I guess I just went along.
Now here's an idea: How about kicking us one-time offenders, instead of using a ban? I would get the drift after a kick, even if I', a bit slow in the start. :D

I've read the posts here now, and what I deduce out of it is: Last night got a little confused, noone did anything bad on purpose, and we're all sorry! Now, if the server rules (what I see while waiting to join) corresponds with the rules in-game, I have no problems getting the idea.
Let's all hug each other and be friends again, and abide by the infantry only-rules, when they apply. :D :D :D

I've always loved you, Benny was just a ship in the night ;)
Ok I'll try and explain last nights events.
we played two cracking games on Karkand as Infantry only even thou the server rules stated Jeeps were allowed. The next map was Mashtuur, which due to It's size needs Jeeps. At that point a few people used up tanks and a chopper. (even a old school dMw member, who should know better) but we sorted that out.

I think this was messaged at the begging of the map to clarify if we were still Infantry only.
But even with the problems, it was still an enjoyable map (for me anyway)
Then Zatar. we stated playing infantry. but after a few minutes Oldie pointed out the lack of jeeps on the map and as he is getting on in years his leg were aching. so at that point the server was reset to all vehicles. I'm sorry if it was not pointed out to all players of the rule change. The confusion probably can from the auto admin message that did not switch of. It seems to be a bug in BF2CC, It seems un-checking the enable message button doesn't work, But I have sorted that now.
The only real misuse of vehicles apart from that is pre map restart. so if you joined the server then, I guess you could get a bit confused.
I hope after all that people still enjoyed the infantry only night. may be next week we could try small map no AAS for a change.
