Title: Game suggestions
Post by: Ranger on November 04, 2005, 03:56:42 PM
Sorry to start a thread rather like the one that's already here - but this is specifically about the games, rather than timetables and schedules and what not.

I can' t see us having time fo more than four different games over the course of the weekend (what u think?) - so which ones?

CS | BF2 | xxx? | xxx?

...It would be nice to have something that's NOT shooting - we mentioned a racing game, and in that case the candidiates might be:

1] Live for Speed, and...
2] GT Legends (which all the BIG guys have just bought from Play.com at £18).

Another game that might be nice is some sort of RTS or AoE or CIV?

A couple of people mentioned Unreal Tournament last LAN - and I notice Quake 4 is coming out! (Or Unreal Tournament 2004)

Finally, someone mentioned a footy game...Which sounds a laugh (although I haven't really played these).

BUT - for me, I am hoping 'Ghost Recon 3' will be out next February!

Anyone have any suggestions or do any of the above interest anyone???

So, we could be looking at something like this:

1) Counter Strike: Condition Zero (or is it Source you play?)

2) BF2/'Special Forces'

3) Racing game: Either LFS or GTL

4) Quake IV

???

(I have actually loaded up CS:CZ onto my PC!!!! LOL - but I'm still too scared to actually have a game with anyone!)

I think me and Ron at least would be up for some LFS.  I will bring my crap steering wheel - mono might do the same, not sure.

(Don't have it yet, but trust me. I will be dumb enough to buy it sometime before the LAN)  ;)

Well, dumb in the sense that I most likely can't afford it   especially since I have to buy a new computer case for the LAN. I'm sure the one I have now will not be allowed inside the plane, and I'm NOT going to check it in

Yep - have GTL on order and getting a Logitec wheel next pay day - so the BIG guys table should be a row of wheels! (Hope we still all fit on one table!)...

I've played (and didn't like) all microsoft FS series (but did like and still have) IL2 FB and Falcon 4.

Falcon 4 is a cracking sim even down to the reflections appearing inside the canopy :)

Falcon 4 is what the TG lot play so it must be good....

I like a flight sim, but get tired real quick of the crap that goes with them. Is Falcon 4 action packed and easy to pick up..

Falcon 4... I know the game but never tried it. Being a bit outdated it can't be that expensive. I will try and find it! :D

What is the 'official' game list for Lan IX? BF2, SF, GTL, CS?

thats a task that has been given to Smilo with me and Whitey as his happy helpers. However no one has seen Smilo for a while so we are a bit concerned. I guess Whitey and I need to get our heads together and just get something prepared. Whitey? you getting this? I'm away at weekend but lets try some nite this week :)

I think UT2004 should be there as some light relief. I can run it as a server on my PC so it doesn't need to be on BA3, seemed to work well at the last few LANs and meant I had a slight ping advantage  8) . People just need to let me know what MOD they want to play, Invasion, Conquest, CTF etc etc.

BB with your new-found (and much deserved) demi-god status can you please sticky your 'official games' thread to this forum please

Can you also please sticky the travel details thread

Can you also please stickly the "Attendees" List thread.

finally, I guess, this should also be stickied in due course
http://forum.deadmen.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=10829 (http://forum.deadmen.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=10829) so that everyone will know what to do.

Thanks

I bought Falcon 4 about 6 years ago when i was running a p3 and a voodoo gfx card.

Ive still got the game somewhere.

I remember playing through the manual... its not easy to pick up. Insane number of keyboard controls, i think almost every key is used.

I also had a jokstick thing for it, with rudder and throttle control, but its comm and i dont have a soundcard with one on anymore :(
