Title: Karkland II? How would you improve our fav?

Karkland, great eh?

But how would you improve on Karkland?

For me, there are a lot of rooftops I would like to see available for use (seen that rooftop across the street from the hotel?)...

I would have also like to have seen basements and underground passages (or maybe sewers) - be nice to able for infantry to sneak around a bit more.

And I suppose everyone would like it if we could get into the buildings - especially the first and second floors for a bit of sniping.

...However, if we are talking 'wish lists', I suppose the best thing would be 'breakable' buildings - be nice to blow holes in walls and stuff - for that bombed out rubble look. (Of course blowing chunks out of building with the tank and artillary would mean that certain streets would then be unpassable for armour - quite a nice tactical touch!).

Of course, having so many more hiding places for infantry with anti-tank will make teh tankies winge a bit - but I think it is a fair reflection of real urban warfare (tanks are always more vunerable in narrow streets - and commanders never like sending tanks into built up areas).

This would put the emphasis back onto infantry warfare.

Finally, I would like to 'see' (LOL) a night mode map of Karkland. With lots of lovely flares and tracers!

Any other suggestions?

I'm not sure what map you are talking about... is it Karkand?  :devil:

You are right, more roof tops. I do fear too much access would kill the gameplay - if you have to take out snipers and ppl tossing grenades from roof tops too much the fun dwindles IMHO.

Anyways - you might already know this, but you can access other roof tops, they are just not easy. It is a matter of jumping style - I took this picture yesterday:

On another note - me and Doris were looking for a TG game yesterday and found that one server was running a "Karkand 2" map - so maybe they already beat you to it :D

Yeah played TG karkland 2 map,massive,lots of buildings to snipe from,2-3 bridges.Great map imho. :dribble:

Sorry for typo...It is KARKAND. My mistake...

Anyway...

Yeah - as I said, making more rooftops and 'tunnels' available would change the ballance of the map into a bit of a hide and sneak infantry fest. But that might be a nice change.

You want armour influenced map, choose Karkand 1, you want infantry influenced map, choose Karkand 2...If you see what I mean.

I think the sniper/grenade fest you are talking about fairly reflects the problems the US Army had in Bagdad...

And to be honest snipers don't hold any special fear for me - I would happily pit my M16 on single shot against a sniper any day! :)

...And as for grenades from roofs - well, that's just good tactics. The way to combat this is to get your guys on a near-by roof to take them out.

I like your screen shot btw - wonder how u got there? Must have an explore on teh dMw server today while no one is on!

I'd like to see a few more fastfood outlets. I cant believe that these towns dont have McDonalds. Its just not realistice. Clearly Dice have all of these downtown physics models totally wrong.

Come on guys supersize me :D

I agree...

I wish they had radios on in the buildings, Like in cs_Italy etc....

and flushing toilets, opening doors, more breakable scenery and cvilians to collatorally damage :dribble:

I wish someone would invent a game like that :P

seriosly thou duke nukem3d had flushing toilets and look what happened
1) run into toilet chased by cop pigs
2) press the action button under fire action  "Dam Imloking good"
3) go to the urinal while under fire press  action button "Ahh thats good"
4)  at toilet while under fire press  action button "Ahh thats good"
5) kill cop pig

now transpose that to bf2...  :whistle:

This idea really works for me.

Players need food. Food gives energy. Running around, jumping etc uses up energy. Need more food. More food = more waste so need loo. Even pilots will have to land every so often to use the loo. Fits in with real life too. No more desperately hanging on until the end of a game - just park on portaloo and off you go.

Could end up with some dirty kills though
