Title: Battlefield 3 wish list!
Post by: Ranger on November 20, 2005, 05:01:19 PM
1] Hummers/jeeps with Avenger AA missles mounted on roof

(The Avenger is the AA missle above the Stinger - it IS capable of a one hit kill on fast jets!)

2] Choice of ATW OR Stinger OR 60mm mortar for Anti-Tank class (which should be re-named 'Heavy Weapons' class]

3] Twin or tripple 20/23mm AA guns in fixed implacements (another cure for fast jets).

4] Ability for the Engineer to choose whether to have Anti-tank OR Anti-personnel mines.

5] For the squad leader to be made a class of it's own, the SL being armed with an M4, flares and binoculars.

6] For there to be a new boat - a fast armoured patrol boat - with heavy MGs and missle (sort of floating APC) so we can have more fun at sea.

7] 'Breakable buildings' - explosions can blow holes in buildings - I would especially like 'breakable' pill boxes with heavy machine guns in them.

8] 'Obsolete equipment' - now this will sound strange, but it would be interesting if the enemy sometimes had obsolete armour (like they were second line or reserve units). Make for interesting tactical situations. For example the MEC could have the T55 - and the USMC could have the M60.

5] Binoculars should definately be in SL and snipers kit...in fact, I find it hard to believe they left them out of BF2 :eyebrow:

7] breakable buildings?...you'll be wanting one of these (http://www.defensetech.org/archives/001944.html) then :dribble:

this is the result

WOW! A BF2 mod that actually breaks a random web page! LOL

;)

- Yep, agreed, the sniper should have binos too, though some would say that the zoom on teh scope is as good as. (I have played commander in some games where I have been a sniper so I can use the scope as a kind of telescope to keep an eye on the action from a safe distance).

This bloody debate over what weapons to use. Obviously nukes and WMDs are stupid when you're talking about levelling many square miles of country, but at the end of the day it's a f**kin war. People are trying to kill each other, and as a result, people die, and the person who wins is generally the person who kills the most of the enemy at the least cost to themselves.

In fighting in built up areas, one has to ask, what the civilians are doing anyway! Is their house that precious that they hang around on the porch in the middle of a gunbattle? If a guy has the option of levelling a building from a distance at little risk to himself, or assualting it and engaging in CQB where the odds are always against the attacker, which do you think he will do!?

We were using white phos grenades against the Argentinians in the Falklands, and no-one shouted about it then!

1) Wing Mirrors on the jeeps! People have forgotten the pedestrian code and run behind me.

2) For the knife to actually work and not having to stop, get within 2inches of the enemy and stab repeatedly until u get a hit. Even the de-fribulator works better than the knife!

Aleternatively:

3) Like on HALO being able the bash the enemies head in with the butt of your AK.

4) For medics to have to get out of vehicles or atleast park before then revive themselves and their team mates. I don't drive but im sure bandaging yourself up after having had a few rounds from an AK pumped into your spine, bandaging up your team mates and driving at the same time would be quite hard.
(I think i'm getting a bit too picky now...)

5) People to slow down as they get injured (i know this is a regular comment especially on CS but it does get annoying when you shoot an enemy but they don't quite die and end up turniong round and HEADSHOTing you.

I think i'm done, but yes, pretty much all the above comments from Ranger + Blunt would be nice as well...

I said it before on another thread...

there should be civvies hanging around...like the hozzies in CS

you could lose points for "collateral damage"

come to think of it....that's not very realistic, is it?

positional damage systems would be interesting. If yuo get shot in the arm perhaps your reloading becomes much slower, in the leg and you cannot jump/sprint nearly as high/far. If shot in both perhaps lose the ability to fire for a short period (forcing you run around defenceless looking for a medic might be a bit harsh for gameplay)

I agree...

I used to play 'Ghost Recon' - and the urban senarios had civilians.

These had the annoying habit of running round a corner or a doorway when you least expected them!

 - SO you would blast them and give away your position OR lose the mission because you're not supposed to shoot civilians! LOL

(Fantastic urban maps in Ghost Recon btw - wish we had them in BF2. 'Vilnius', 'Embassy and 'Red Square' would go down a storm as 16 player maps.)
