Delivantal, totally agree with you there  :D

So can we ask the server admins if we can play BF2 including Karkand 2?

To be a little frank here, if those french guys show up again and start flying three jets we should explain the concept of base raping and team work  to them... <_< imho...

I vote we play AAS BF2 tonight (no special forces - even though I'm itching to try it)

I think we should give dmw guys a few weeks to get SF and then start off having agreed regular SF nights say twice a week.

Thoughts and opinions welcome.

They were annoying, but that was about it.  For all of their jet usage (one of which was stolen from the Chinese UCB), they still left their team three men short on the ground.  That's not where you want to be when the other team have ticket bleed on you, and they deservedly lost that map (Daquing Oilfields).

Nah - I know what it is. It's a conflict between sound card drivers...

A mate of mine who is good with this stuff is going to sort it out for me, I just have to wait for him to have a spare afternoon/evening to do it.

(I am a Mac Boy you see - dunno the first thing about Windows and drivers and stuff...I am used to computers just working! LOL)

My 2c: Perhaps we could run a separate SF server (a few nights a week or whatever) alongside the "normal" BF2 AAS server, that way those of us who don't immediately snap up add-on patches proferred by EA (...recalling the bf1942 patch money-grabbing...) can still choose a dMw server for our gaming and those with SF can have their SF games. With halflife1 we got counterstrike, with bf1942 we got desert combat.

Yeah, either that or disable one of them in Windows (go to system properties -> hardware -> device manager -> find the card you need to disable and... uhm.. disable it) Do you want me to write 'disable' one more time? Ok. 'Disable'! There!

That ought to do the trick. I have onboard sound and a Soundblaster too, and I have just disabled (there, I did it again) the onboard. Everything works fine now...

Nice one, so if we all meet up about 8pm then on server? Looking forward to it  :D

I'd also be interested in having a City maps only night, so we just rotate, mashturr, karkand and karkand 2 and maybe that other city map in map pack 2 that I've yet to play.

What do people think?

Already have mate.  Still no joy. :(

Oldie said he'd take a look at it.  Mumbled something about BB having been tinkering...

Edit: Never mind.  Sorted.  The muppet behind the keyboard over here forgot to change the server connection port from the R-Con default to the Daemon value again.

Operator error strikes again.  Sorry for slandering your good name Mr BB sir.

some cracking games tonight Grommit!...
fantastic turn-out on the server, I didn't count (life's too short :P )
some hard fights and some A1 SLing
I was on the winning side early on, then we lost the last couple...but I guess it was the other way round for some :P
I had a period of 3/4 hr where I was mustard...but the Cabernet Merlot (it's a Medic unlock) took it's toll..and I wilted towards the end (soz Armi...I was pants by then)
Dewey's got the hang of the gren launcher....

I dropped in last night aswell. I've downloaded the newest patch 3 times before it would finally work  <_<.
GG's were had although some people should need glasses  ;). Running over some big red skulls with a vehicle is not good for your health, especially 2 times.  :lmfao:

For the rest, I played some sniping because s_monkey had a nice spot where he got me from. I then decided to be a sniper aswell. Nice try a couple of times to sneak around in the back s_monkey. But I got you babe. 8).

Best thing that happend to me last night was me versus 2 snipers and an assault guy and I managed to survive them.   Oldie finally got me when he flanked me and that was at the end of the round.

I have to own up as one of thje drivers that went over the mines - though to be fair they were just over the crest of the hill, and I couldn't see thjem as I turned my jeep round!

...That's my excuse anyway!

It's funny actually - I normally place mines on the opposite crest of a hill so the enemy can't see them but friendlies can! (Not attibuting blame - was still my own fault). The way they were placed was on the side of teh crest that the enemy could see coming up the hill - but which we couldn't see coming over and down the hill.

But maybe that was just my perception.

:)

I tried sniping last night ~ failed miserably! Couldn't get a headshot ~ maybe need more practise...

On the other hand I did well with the Special Ops M4 - got some nice sniped shots with that. Didn't quite have C4 sorted though.

Mainly last night I got back into Squad Leading - now I have my mic back. Really missed that.

All in all, great night - nice to be able to speak to you lads again (I don't think I quite have my levels right yet ~ I was told my mic icon was constantly open?).

Cheers, guys!

Another thing that helped last night is that I got a lot of messages via X-Fire...

Quite a few people were checking round those signed into X-Fire to make sure they were going on the server OR just to say hello (either way it encourage you to get your ass on the server)!

:)

I was chatting to folk an hour before the match really got started around 8pm. Kinda got me in the right mood.

I went to the server cause I wanted a game. Only four people including me. But I figured more would show up. And they (you) did!

I don't use X-fire, but everytime I want a game of BF2, I go to the DMW server, and stay on it for at least 45 minutes. It never fails: People show up, and the game becomes good.

The 6 vs 6 in the city maps yesterday was terrific!!!

Wow guys, what a fantastic turn out last night (I counted over 22 people at one point) - and just as importantly everyone fought hard and I enjoyed every game  :D

Good to see some newer faces on there and some dmw guys who haven't played much BF2, who I SL earlier on Karkand *sorry guys I suck at SL*  :)  I don't think I'm cut out for it, I'm too aggressive and get shot too much.

Really enjoyed Karkand and Mashtuur City as usual.

Duvel, sorry for going over your mines matey, but they looked so inviting

Blunt, did I GL you last night then?

I tried a few different classes last night and it was nice to have the unlocks of again, (thanks admins).

Support - Norm how the hell do you hit anything with this gun?

I was firing short bursts at a guy only about 15 m away as he came out of some water at the bridge near the railway accident on Karkland, I fired at him lots, he turned, shot me twice in the head and killed me, granted I couldnt' go prone as I was firing over a wall   :D

I LOVE the unlocked medic gun, lacking the stopping power of the Assault rifle, but its very accurate over med/long distance and up close it gives a medic full auto.

As is usual, I will name and shame bunnyhoppers.... last nights award for bunnyhopping like a bugger was ....*drumroll* KillCrazy.

Where? Dragon Valley - near the East Mine entrance on the corner of the building opposite the flag. I see Killcrazy prone behind a large gas bottle, he spots me. We pop a few of at each other. I drop a grenade on the right side of the bottle (hoping to disorientate him), I immediately sprint left of the bottle, he's stood up, we run past each other, I turn, go prone, begin firing at Killcrazy, who proceeds to bounce around like the easter bunny before killing me *at which pointed I politely pointed out to my team how bunny like he was  :D and also messaged everyone asking him to stop.

Killcrazy... how do you plead?  Killcrazy, anything you say, can and will be used against you before a dMw court of law :narnar:

But this didn't fail to take the shine of an excellent night  :dribble:

Yeah, it was a really great night, even on FuShe Pass. Even if I had to be SL, which I suck at ;)

(Why is there no inter-squad-comm?!? It would be really cool if you could speak directly with the other SL's. I know that's what the commander's there for, but anywho...)

Really tough Karkand too!

Ranger:
You don't need an m24 or m95 as long as you've got the m4 mate - you got me too many times on the first Mashtuur, whereas I couldn't hit shite with the F2000 or G3  :P  I eventually switched back to the good ol' Kalashnikovski :D

Quite surprised really as the M4 should have a lot shorter range/accuracy than even the M16, never mind the sniper rifle!

:)

...I got a couple of nice positions across the river from your MEC base, and caught you crossing the river bed a few times - took me a few shots, but I got you! (And Dewey!)

It's quite cool, now if I can only get the hang of the C4 I may change class! :)

If you want to see some unusual C4 techniques, download "The Final Stand (TFS) BF2 Skills Movie" it's a big dl though

use x-fire/files/popular downloads to locate it

it's not really "our" way of playing...but interesting nonetheless

Thanks Coolhand, but I do think I like to get stuck in too much, which means I get shot which means my squad mates can't spawn on me. I just need to practise at it and curb my natural urge to advance.

Cool is right, you did well. Good directions and orders. We might have lost Karkand, but that was not your fault. Well played mate.

Mono... you where using an F2000 last night??? I didn't know you could do that...cool! :dribble:

Yup. Used two unlocks on assault - that gives you the G3 and the F2000. The cool thing is that it doesn't matter which side you're on - even the chinese army now have F2000  :P

Don't really know if it's worth using two unlocks just to get it, but what the hey... gotta use 'em on something right?

So tell us what its like to fire.

Also are you saying you must unlock the G3 before you can unlock the F2000?

Yes, you have to unlock the G3 first...

I dunno what to say about it really. I haven't really compared them as such, but my initial feelings:

I can't seem to hit anything with it, but that may not be the rifle's fault

(Remembering a long distance shootout between me and Ranger on Mashtuur last night, where he took me out with his M4. I don't now if I even hit him ;) )

I guess single shot is fairly accurate, and damage seems to be effective, when I do hit someone... Right now I can't even remember if it has burst or auto, but either way it wanders a lot when using burst/auto, so it's pretty useless from a distance.

Up close it's pretty ok, but overall I don't feel there's much difference. It seems the grenade launcher throws longer (or is it further? Even farther perhaps?) but it may be an illusion.

I think things went better for me when I used the G3 or the usual M16/Kalash. Of course you miss the grenade launcher when using the G3, but that weapon is simply cool :)

Besides that, the F2000 is downright ugly   I like the classic design of the M16 much better. That's how an assault weapon should look like.

I think I'd rather have the G36 or the Scar-L/H instead of the F2000. Those guns seemed better somehow...

Thanks mono, interesting read. I wouldn't be too hard on the F2000 though, you probably haven't used it anywhere near as much as you have the G3 and stock weapons.

I tried the F2000 in the SF single player mode the other day...(hasn't your Special Forces arrived yet Dewey?)

:)

Anyway - I found the rifle bit a little less accurate than the M16, even though you have a scope with teh F2000...

But the most annoying thing is the grenade launcher - you might as well be using teh standard M203!

The Alliant Techsystems / Heckler-Koch XM-29 SABR / OICW assault rifle (USA):

Is the weapon that the F2000 is most commonly compared too - BUT the main difference is that the OICW had an AUTOMATIC 20mm grenade launcher!

Really after a short play with the F2000 I returned to the M16/M203 combo. Little if any advantages.

:(

(Waste of an upgrade - I would have preferred a G36E/HK AG36 40mm underbarrel grenade launcher combination instead.)
