Uhm.. how was the opposition? Ranger told me you won 2-1?
Yeah - well played dMw.
...You had 'us' (what was our team name?) on the back foot all the way. Though we finally got our act together for the final game.
2-1 dMw I made it.
...As Norm pointed out we didn't make good use of the comms (how ironic that was for me, having only just got my comms back!)...
Positive note for me was by the third game I finally had the C4 sorted out - which I put to good use subsequently in the games after! (Cracking back and forth Dragon Valley btw).
Hee hee!
A good night I thought.
We stormed it beautifully in the first game, everything came together just at the right time, so the first round was a bit of a rush really. Could almost call it 1-1 with us taking the golden goal initially rather than at the end ;) 2nd and third rounds were much tighter affairs with neither team really able to get past the market/square flag for a change.
And yes, some great games later on! If it's the dragon valley game I'm thinking about where we (MEC) were pushed right back to our main flag and then bounced all the way back to the farmhouse ... :yahoo:
gg wp all :)
gg's all :D
I don't want to make excuses for the round we lost, but I will. :)

That's right mate - make me feel better about the only game that we won!
:)
-------
On a technical note (if you know what I mean) - it was interesting playing with these guys because I'd say ~ meaning no disrespect as it was nice to meet these guys and I hope the come back again ~ that they are where dMw were with BF2 play about 4 or more months ago.
They were a bit disorganized at first, made worse because I don't think they understood how we played with AAS and our restart. This confused them a bit...But the main thin Norm and I noticed was the lack of comms, which made it hard to co-ordinate defences (not an excuse, with people not spotting Norm and I felt like we were constantly 'fire fighting' if you know what I mean).
It all reminded me of the first game we had against [TG].
However, it was interesting also to see dMw playing from the point of view of an advesary. I really do think we've improved loads.
:)
As I say - this isn't a winge or an excuse, enjoyed playing with new people and I hope they will come back and play us again. Seemed like a nice bunch of guys.

(On a serious note)
One thing OldBloke,
It's great to have competitive games, and I don't want to winge ~ but when games are arranged with a team can the Admin or person that arrages the match post up a mini-profile telling us something about the team we are playing (or playing with in my case).
Just general stuff - who they are, where they are from, how long they have been together, their experience with BF2. That sort of thing.
Just a paragraph or two that's all.
Makes things more interesting IMHO.

From what Ranger tells me the oppostion (and no disrespect to them) where quite weak tactically, made virtually no use of comms and weren't organised ie they didn't even know that the games where restarted at the start, they didn't organise who would be what kit, no team plan etc.
Ranger thinks they weren't even a team but a group of individuals. Who where they btw?
So while congratulations are in order to the dMw guys, we should put the win into context, and not forget that you actually lost a game to them, one player less or not. I think competitions like this definitely make us stronger, but we need to learn from it and improve and part of improving is looking critically at everything we do in a match, both in preparation and during the game.
Technically I think we have all improved, but tactically and organisationally I'm not so sure.
This isn't a dig at anyone I'm glad we won, heck I wasn't even playing but just been discussing the game with Ranger. Please discuss. :D

I think this is a valid comment - it doesn't take anything away from how obviously dMw have improved but does say 'could do better'...
(You are right, dMw shouldn't really have lost that last game - Ped or no Pen on our side! LOL)
But a few organizational comments could be said:
1] We should have a proper pre-brief (I know this was a short notice game but I would still have liked, at the very least, to know more about these guys. Remember [CoD]? We all said this after playing them!)
2) We should have at least two set plays in a tactical portfolio - which people are familiar with BEFORE the game.
3) We did have a thread listing peoples preferred classes - I still think that is useful so the commander can chose a team OR when we just have the right amount of people can choose a tactic that suits teh team's stregths.
4) Team practise - you could argue that we actually practise all the time - but what about set team practises. Where we can try out set pieces - just for laughs.
I know all thsi sounds a bit 'heavy' to some people - but it needen't be...I think organized stuff can be fun. And I'm not suggesting we start excluding anyone by making set teams - we could have a rota or something...
But we do need to be always trying to improve as I would like to have another knock at playing TG or even CoD and win!
Chill guys 8)
The oppo was quickly put together by a colleague of Norm's (hence Norm played for them) and was arranged between him and me at very short notice. As far as I know they are just a bunch of guys who play BF2 together and not an organised clan.
It was a friendly hence the usual well-organised dMw match organisation type thingy wasn't in evidence.
When the new server is in place (looking like Dec 10th atm) we will be stepping up a gear where BF2 is concerned. This will involve running at least two BF2 servers, joining the ED BF2 ladder and organising the BF2 playing members into functional squads with in-house matches used for practice. We did this very successfully in the past with CounterStrike so we have a good idea what works and what doesn't.
So if you're set on playing competitive matches for dMw against other BF2 clans then I suggest you read up on the 'Charlie Company Applications' section. ;)

About yesterdays match - this is not a rant - would be possible to leave the server in its usual state until f.i. 07.15, say if the match was at 8 and the line up at 7.30 ? Last night the server was password locked since 6 o' clock.
Me and mono sometimes test various stuff in there - and sometimes bump into other people in there, who's up for a little match etc.
I would guess as it was the first match played since the BF2CC update Oldie had to set up a profile for the match.
which takes a bit of time as it would have needed checking. normally it is easy to switch to match settings.

Yeah - this caused a bit of confusion at the end of last nights game (where - obviously - there were a few dMw guys waiting to get in after the match)...
LOL - indeed, it was a bit confused as to when the match was over (it kinda fizzled out after the third game with no Admin saying 'Match over guys'! Hee hee)...
But no prob. as we kinda guessed it was over. :)
But for the guys OUTSIDE, they were left tryiong and failing to get in - and when Dev did get in teh server restarted and he was dumped out!
LMAO - thank goodness for X-Fire as there were a few messages of 'What's gong on?' flying about.
Hee hee
All very funny
