Title: Xmas Tourney
Post by: TeaLeaf on December 04, 2005, 02:44:56 PM
For the past few years I have tried to run a dMw community tourney of some sort every 6 months or so and the next one is due to be run over the Christmas/New Year break.

Unfortunately, things in my life (mainly builders/suppliers related) are currently tits up atm and I am not going to go have the time to run the organise and run the tournament myself.

So what I would love to happen is for someone else to step forward and say that they'd be prepared to organise the tourney this year.

The date isn't fixed yet (but favs ore prob 30/31 December) and the games aren't yet decided (may be BF2, CZ or even a bit of both) and the teams are not yet sorted.  Apart from that it's totally under control atm

Just so that you are under no illusions, these things take a heck of a lot of planning and *will* occupy the best part of your whole day if you volunteer to run the tourney.

It would be great help if someone or some people have the capacity to take on this challenge and your response here in this thread owuld be very welcome.

Thanks you two, may I leave it to you to decide the format, make announcements, gather teams and generally take control?

Maybe, we'll have to see.  I currently have only 1 room downstairs and 1 bedroom updstairs that are inhabitable - so if the stress hasn't killed me by then I might show up!

Have we announced anything about what this will be?  We need to get people signed up ASAP if it is going to happen.

I've done the easy bit, the BF2 tourny.

Now we need to sort out the CZ jobby.

I suppose the date is the first thing. Any preferences?

Not if we get our skates on. :)

The other alternative would be Friday 30th in the evening. Obviously we wouldn't be able to have the full round-robin type tourny but we could, for example, try a 10 vs 10 on a big map.

Just a suggestion, ask for people to post to say they are coming along - you can guage numbers and pre-plan the squads for some balance etc. etc
