Title: Why Was I Banned?? Pt. 2
Post by: Gone_Away on December 05, 2005, 09:17:22 PM
"You were not kicked, you were banned.

You were asked to cut out the swearing. Your reply was totally out of order and, quite frankly, should you ever repeat such an outburst on *any* server you will no longer be a dMw member. Grow up or ship out. "

I would like to explore this issue further.

I swore once and was warned by the "automatic attendant" and not by an admin whatsoever. Granted my response was flippant but I was speaking to a machine and not an admin. And MOST importantly it was a JOKE. After my so-called "outburst" I don't even recall swearing at all. Yet many minutes later I was Banned??

At NO POINT was I warned by an Admin or yourself for that mater OB. If I missed it, please accept my apology but I honestly did not recall receiving a warning from anyone (except the one time as a machine as I said above).

Perhaps OB you are just using your powers as an Admin against me personally? I do not know nor do I understand why you would speak to me in such a condescending manner. I have been a loyal member of dMw for over three years now and I object to being treated like this.

Although I doubt that I will receive an impartial ruling on this I intend on making a formal complaint against you OB for what I see as an abuse of your authority. In the mean time, I will remove my -=[dMw]=- tag from my Steam account name. Unfortunately due to the limitation of BF2 I will not be able to change my tag name immediately but I will begin looking into it forthwith.

The fact that you closed the previous thread and not even given me the opportunity to respond is also very poor in my opinion. I will copy this reply to TL and humbly request a formal hearing on this.

Good Day

Quote from Admin Standards:

5. Warnings
Warnings must be given before ANY other form of punishment for ANY Member who is violating the TCS rules or guidelines. Warnings should not be given without FULL understanding of the events that occurred. You must personally have VISUAL confirmation that a rule has been violated or proper conduct has not been followed before a punishment is issued. If possible, have another Admin confirm the event before issuing a warning. Warnings must be given onscreen for all Members to see.

You were warned by an admin using BF2CC's inbuilt warn/kick/ban facility. Your reply (which is not suitable to reproduce here) was totally out of order and however you want to dress it up it was not the behaviour expected of any member of this community.

Thanks for quoting the rules - I helped write them and, I'm glad to say, they were followed correctly. A thread regarding this incident was immediately posted in the admins section and the events corroborated by more than one admin.

Simply put, you were asked to stop swearing. You were then warned about your swearing. Your reply to that request was such that you were immediately banned from the server.

I bear no grudges. I speak as I find. It's no use us selling our hard-earned reputation to potential new members only for them to be treated to a tag-wearing member behaving as you did.

Please address your complaint against my actions to TeaLeaf who will investigate on behalf of the admins.

This thread will now be closed.

I hope it will not be seen as abuse of my admin powers by adding to this post.

You ran through my line of fire and I shot you (you were on my team). You came out with a complete string of expletives before I had a chance to apologise and explain that i was lagging badly. As you have been a member of dMw for so long) you should have known this level/amount of swearing was completely unacceptable on one of our servers.

I did apologise and shortly thereafter I dropped due to the lag making the game unplayable. I had intended to PM you warn you against further outbursts but it sounds like you continued after I left. If your response to OB was reported correctly (and I have no reason to doubt that it was) then your response alone was grounds for banning far less the first offence.

We will not tolerate abusive behaviour on our servers and in my opinion OB was correct in his actions. Sorry that you feel otherwise but I'm also sorry I had to listen to your abusive language!
