Title: DMW - a credit to BF2
Post by: Boris on December 12, 2005, 10:44:29 AM
Just had our monthly lan - and as usual an hour or two on BF2, and i had to be subdued on more than one occassion for shouting things like 'thats why i joined a proper f****ng clan' as people danced towards me, bunny hopping, and then throwing themselves on the floor and usually killing me  :ranting:  thanks to your pure 'sporting in gaming' ethos i have become some kind of DMW disciple spouting the virtues of proper gaming and telling people to come here and play properly

We aren't completely 'free' of this sort of thing Boris - take last nights game as an example! (We can't stop 'visitors' popping in and causing havoc on the odd occassion! - Luckily we are all quick to tell them what NOT to do and there are Admins about to take action if needed.)

Be nice to see you in a game Boris ~ I believe Dewey is posting up a call for the 'Monday Night Game'.

:)

I still intend to pop into one of the LUN LANs ~ time has just been pressing lately what with Xmas coming up.

Be nice if we can get a few of your BF2 mates coming on dMw...>The more the merrier!

;)

Yes, I'd like to come down to one of the Lun parties, just been hectic at the moment, but will make it sometime in the next few months.

will be there tonight no problems, im patched, mapped and ready

had a small play last week on a few maps - just 6 of us i think, and played enough to see its exactly how it should be played.

whilst im on about hopping and diving - as part of your gaming is it something that you dont do because its not right or because you cant???

i only ask because it just doesnt occur to me to jump up and down when im under fire or throw myself in the air whilst carrying a machine gun and landing on my face and shooting the opposition and i dont think i could master it anyway!!!!

Basically we don't as a 'fair play' decision.

It's just not 'realistic' and looks stupid.

We *try* to make our BF2 'realistic', if people want to leap about and frag there are games out there which support this 'everything goes' attitude (Quake and Unreal Tournament for example)...And there is nothing wrong with it in those cases.

But - if I can speak for dMw? - we play for the tactical teamwork...

The most fun I get from BF2 - win or loose - is when a plan works out. I like tactical play.

Bunny hoping, dolphin diving and the rest just doesn't interest me.

Also, we did play a friendly match against another clan BOD(?) I think. Anyway it was farcical, they didn't bother using guns, they just dolphin dived towards you, in teams, using medics to revive killed team mates and killing you with knives.

dMw members just stood watching in disbelief, we where laughing and swearing at the same time - it was funny to watch but no fun whatsoever when they did it to you.

We decided after that episode to not allow it on our server.

Obviously visitors do come on occaisionally and miss our warnings and we will will give them a polite message asking them not to do it.

Very occaisionally some of the dMw guys do it and I and others, publicly shame them on these forums by giving their name and the occaision when they did it - obviously people may jump out of fright or accidentally hit their jump key, thats fine (as long as its not a regular occurence). At the end  its all about attitude, teamwork and fun  :D

It was [CoD]

Hence the 'Dolphin Ribbon' in my sig....Everyone who played against [CoD] is entitled to wear this ribbon!

it makes me giggle when ppl bunny hop only for the fact that if they tried that in a real situation say in iraq for instance they would get oWned, as for the lying down on the ground thats what we are taught in our pre iraq course, dash( to cover) , down, move(into a position to put suppresive fire down, fire.

Bunny hopping is tommy tank thou

i know its only a game

There is no bigger joy than playing together as a team and wipe such a guy out. I had an episode where a BH'er jumped out in front of me like some Tiger from Winnie the Pooh, while firing his rifle at me - only to be shot in the back by my team mate using his shotgun. A fine example of a player going for kills, but no eye for teamwork.
