...Bit of a false start tonight eh? What was going on?
:)
Anyway - we the games finally started they were worth waiting for as they were good 'uns.
Pleanty of people (including myself) took the hint and swapped sides at the end of matches so it was a good mix throughout the night.
Dalian Plant was enjoyable ~ we eventually got the USMC off the land and held them off at the North Harbour. Good tactic getting on teh roof of the hanger though - that gave us a few tense moments.
Daqing Oilfileds was OK too, plenty of action at the West Oil Field and the Power Station ~ I kept trying to sneak round teh back or HALO onto teh Power Station roof, but Dewey kept catching me!
BUT...
The best game was Dragon Valley! What a topper!
I was having a crap game at first (spawn, die - spawn, die, etc) but then my squad capped the Market place with a great SAS infiltration...From then on in we rolled and rolled the flags ending up at the Power Plant!
Dewey was on a roll - ended up with a huge score on all the flags we took! I think we took 4 flags totally uncontested one after another! :)
...We had a dirty big convoy on the go at one point! LMAO
Best firefight was with Del on the Powerplant roof! He had a cracking spot just at teh top of teh ladder - but which hid him from being sniped from the nearby hill!
Major bullet magnat for me tonight was poor Paddy! Who I seemed to frag at every possible opportunity! Oooops!
As I said ~ pity about the false start - but it was definately worth the wait!
:)
Yeah Dragon Valley was quite good! Vista Point was the best fight, and also the Power Station. After that we lost grip and we lost the game.
Before I closed BF2 I managed to get 246 servers in the in-game browser. Anyone know what is wrong?

That was the other freaky thing tonight.
My server browser showed NO servers at all ~ I only got into dMw because I typed in the IP.
(I also had a few showing that were in my favourites.)
All a bit bizzarre. :(
...I missed the whole Vista firefight as I kept getting killed before I got there! However, in the end, Dewey and I made a break for the next flg JUST as our guys took the Vista!
Timed beautifully!
:)
Is Monday night definitely BF2 night for you guys then (*laments not seeing this 12 hours ago*)?
If you'd like I can see if I can whip up a bit of interest from the TG area of things - I know I'm very interested in getting back into games with you guys.

Sundays and Mondays *seem* to be the most supported 'BF2 nights' here at dMw Wulfyn...
Though, ironically, what with last night's server problems you nearly had the whole dMw BF2 gang over on TG! :)
We were JUST about to come over when our Admin sorted our server and we were able to get into our games here.
Always nice to see the TG guys about ~ and likewise we like to pop over to TG server #1.
yup, had a great time - wasnt in much - had to fend off moaning to go on and watch some wife beating/murder/drama pish with the new Doctor Who in!!!!!!
kept getting pillaged at Dalian plant, parachuted right onto Dewey i think, almost took to the sniper rifle so i could remain at the back - but thought id help the squad and get killed up at the front. I remember a planned 'convoy' to the north, 2 tanks and a bus all waiting at the back of a warehouse, and i set off too early i think and drove straight into two rockets
all in all - had a great time!!!!
any tuesday action???

I'll probably be on for a bit (mostly be doing Call of Duty 2 tonight!)...
But once in I usually always stay longer than I intended!
:)
So see you there.

Yeah I was standing at the Vista Point trying to cap it, overlooking your convoy as it capped the Village, whilst others were heading for the Temple. We filled up the buggies and speeded after you guys, but way too late. Being an AAS player you always keep an eye out for people trying to do such runs, but not this time. You must have sneaked your way to village in that chopper... I am sure <_< Brilliant play :D

I did that as well. I parachuted straight into his arms. Nice welcome, he shot me right in the face! :roflmfo:

HINT:
What I do in order to decide which map to head to:-
I look at the minimap to see just how many of our guys there are round the map we are just fighting for. If I notice a good heavy group of our guys on the enemy flag (intimating we *may* get a take over) I make my way to the
next flag - inform my SL that I am there and ask how they are doing.
Half the time the SL will say 'flags going down here, stay where you are!' and that way we nab a quick take over of the next flag.
If things are going badly I head back to my SL, but now have teh advantage that:
a] I am heading from a direction the enemy don't expect, and...
b] I usually have pinched something useful like a APC or tank or something from the enemies next flag!
This is more or less how we did last night - we picked up useful hardware as we went along (we started in a buggie, but by the end had an APC or tank each!!!).
:)
I do the exact same thing Ranger. It is a good thing to do.
From a more humorous perspective - it just never really works :) Flag looks good, I move out, and just as I get in the flag zone, our own flag goes neutral <_<
In that game we did that as well, but that chopper surprised us.

Yeah - with small numbers it's always a gamble - great if it pays off, a complete bummer if it doesn't (you have to then rush back to the last flag!)...
However, we are starting to get more people on dMw these days, so last night Dewey, Cadaver and I made up a second squad.
We had a complete squad of 6 on the Vista when Dewey and I flew over in a Blackhawk so we took a reasonable guess that the Vista would be taken - and moved on to the next flag which we HALOed into.
Sure enough the Vista was taken just when we were on the next flag!
From then on we ('Dewey's Marauders') leap-frogged from one flag to the other, the big squad taking on the big fights and our small squad driving ahead to infiltrate/harrasse the next base (which also slowed down your reinforcements to the flag our big squad was at!).
From temple and onwards we lost flags, but only slowly. It was a fight, not a rush, and the flags switched to neutral in both places a few times. We were also 6 vs. 8 at that point but no one was interesting in swapping over.
Power Station was really a blast. First your side took the roof, then we did, and then yours again :)
Then we got an additional player (one joined the game) and one of yours logged off. But still you had a good rush with loads of vehicles on the last flag, and crushed us. Still a slow crush. When you neutralized our flag we had 4 or 5 players alive and moving in on you. Good game :)

Someone logged off and Cadaver - who was in Dewey's mini-squad with me was punted over to your side! LOL
Funny how it seemed different to us - maybe because it was fast action all the time. But from the Market to the Power Station we seemed to take the flags very quickly and always seemed to arrive without opposition (until the Power Plant).
It all seemed very fast to us! LOL - Dewey, Cadaver and I were tearing round in those little buggies! :)
We didnt even notice you were a guy down! :)

I wasn't punted per se (I don't think autobalance is enabled on the server at the moment). I took a short 'comfort break' and used the opportunity to swap to the OpFor side who were two men down and were being beaten back. Up until then, the hooning around in the jeeps was proving quite entertaining. It was a bit impolite of me to just swap over without saying anything, sorry chaps.
Not that my presence helped the PLA campaign any...
Slightly OT, but I suppose my one critique of AAS (and I'm honestly not a huge proponent of AAS as it is) on these 64-player maps is the capture radius is friggin' huge. It is quite frustrating when a flag you're trying to defend can be captured by somebody in the next county...
:withstupid: Yeah its sad when you dont know which flag you are capturing, wonder if this has anything to do with the flags not turning on the minimap but when stood next to it they have?
Something i've got to learn to stop, and which got me when I was the last one alive on the Chinese side with no flags for our guys to spawn at, is reloading immediately after a kill. Playing single player games a lot, where bad guys tend to only approach from one direction (normally), has led to a tendency on my part to go 'kill 1, back off while reloading, move back in, repeat'. When reloading loses all the ammo in your current clip (and takes a lot longer than in games like Quake 4), and people often sneak up behind you, that's a bad thing. I also changed from machine gun to anti-tank to take out the APC at the flag, only to run out and get hammered in the face by one of their guys I hadn't even seen.
I need reflex boosters or something  And maybe glasses too ;)
Dragon valley was a bi... err, a blast... except that I really played like crap. And Dewey with that shotgun of his :ranting: You were really flying mate :D
Best moment: Shooting Ranger in the ass with my shotgun! :lmfao:
In one of the fights over Power Plant, I was lying flat on my stomach on the eastern hill where there's a hole in the fence, and I saw him come running round the corner like a bat out of hell. He didn't see me and I had a good feeling that he was making his way to the roof, so I followed him and just as he went up the steps I emptied my load in his ass... erhm... please forget that I said that
Anyways, good game. Well fought by the USMC!

I really enjoyed that game, the opposition fought extremely hard - so much so I hadn't realised you where 1 or 2 men down - so well played guys.
Pendragon, your a dead shot with that gun m8 you bagged me a few times.
It is strange how your pereception of the game is so different - as Ranger said, our little squad seemed to be going at breakneck speed from camp to camp mostly unnoposed - until we got to the power plant. Sneaky bugger whoever was on top of the power plant :D
Again, another classic and the reason I like playing with all of you so much. Apologies to Doorman, Mono (thanks for the kind works m8 :) ), delanvital and anyone else I pumped full of shot. I lurve my Shurtgurn ya varmits
Apologies to Carrot, in the last few minutes of the game, you where hiding behind a box in a hanger near the last flag, I saw you out of the corner of my eye, go prone and line up a shot on me, I panicked and hit the space bar and jumped - you still took me out anyway - so justice was done. Sorry bud didn't mean to bunny hop.
can we fix the capture radius on 64 player maps ?
The following needs to be checked in the AAS version of gpm_cq.py.
aasRadius = 0
If its set at '10' (the default) then thats why, it need to be set at '0'.

No probs man :) Can't say I noticed, it wasn't like you were frantically hopping towards me, just one bounce. Got ya though  Now who was it who capped me 30 seconds later when I was trying to take out the APC? :ranting: Heh. Good game, i enjoyed it.
Isn't the next patch for this going to cause issues for you then Dewey? ;) I seem to recall they're going to make it that you can't fire while jumping, to try and stop bunny hoppers? But that'll also screw over people who hit jump as a reflex just the once (and I know i've done that before as well).

It shouldn't cause any issues for me, as I don't normally jump and fire do I? :(

Not that i've noticed. I just assumed, as by the time you've landed from a jump you're possibly half dead already, assuming the other guy starts firing as you start the jump. Since you don't seem to get owned all the time I figured you must hit jump as a reflex then start firing before you actually landed ;) No offence meant, and not something I actually noticed (tho, as has been ascertained in other threads, my ability to notice things is somewhat lacking sometimes  )
