Title: Call of Duty 2 Multiplayer
Post by: Ranger on December 15, 2005, 01:56:01 PM
Well, had my first stint on CoD2 multiplayer...

First of ~ is it me or is this just Unreal Tournament with historical weapons?

Death Match, Capture the Flag, Team deathmatch...!!!

Lots of running about in total chaos and being fragged from no-where every other second!

NO TACTICS WHATSOEVER!

:(

If I want to play UT I will play UT!

The only nice touch was the fact that when you did get shot you got an instant recording of your killers last 5 or 10 seconds to show how you got killed....Kinda cool! And I think Dewey said he would like something like this function for BF2)...

Call of Duty seems to be screaming out for some sort of co-operative game mode where you and your mates can undertake a tactical mission together.

BF2's 'Cap a Flag' way of doing things at least provides you with a fixed objective over which to fight...

Capturing a flag (and then running away with it) simply means you are in complete ignorance where your objective is most of the time...So you end up running round like a headless chicken!

Another 'up side' is the CoSD2 maps look good - but to be honest the action is SO chaotic and fast that you hardly have time to take in the secenery.

What a shame.

But is the no tactics whatsoever common everywhere, or is it just the majority of servers? After all, a lot of the BF2 servers out there seem to be only marginally better than team deathmatch/UT capture the flag.

We're spoilt  ;)

I *think* there is a comms system built in CoD2 ~ but from what I saw on the server lists a great many had this turned off!

I guess there is always Team Speak!

We serpently are!

:)

In fact I would like to see how dMw guys would play some of teh CoD2 multiplayer maps...

Would it be more tactical?

As you say, going by the [CZ] guys who were on the other night ~ there is a deathmatch, fragging attitude to a lot of the guys out there!

But we had that with [CoD] too when we played them...SO unfortunately there are too few mature, fair-play clans around like dMw and [TG].

I had trouble recognising who was who...

good laugh though, tiny bit odd with the seemingly easy headshots.

Agree with Ranger though, it needs more of an objective based format.
