Title: Help
Post by: Anonymous on December 19, 2005, 10:41:00 PM
Gaming Rig:

P4 3.4GHz 800 FSB HT
2 Gb PC3200 Crucial memory
320Gb Samsung RAID 0 pair
6800GT with latest WHQL drivers overclocked to above (just) Ultra speeds

Problem:

BF2 lags me to pieces :( I've reduced resolution to 1024x768 @ 60Hz with no AA and I still lag

I left tonight because of lag/glitching. I've had this for weeks now (ever since new patch) so if anyone has any brihgt ideas? I disabled all unnecesary services and programs, traceroutes show no appreciable network problems :(

Anyone have any ideas? I haven't been able to play BF2 for weeks now - CZ is fine.

1.12 is more laggy, that is for sure. I guess there is no need, since you have probably tried this but - have you tried with the drivers from the CD?

Go back to your standard card settings, this probably wont be the problem but it takes a bit of pressure of the system so is a good start to find a fix. :)

I think Boris might have a point. Sometimes the newest drivers are not the answer - sometimes even a lot worse than the ones the replace.

Try and check other forums to see if there's some sort of consensus on what the most reliable drivers for your card is. I'm sorry I can't be more specific than that.

This feels like teaching Granny to suck eggs ...... ;)

Rip out all traces of *any* video driver (select 'show hidden devices' from hardware mananger)

Delete all video.con files from your BF2 profile folder.

Download the last three versions of your gfx drivers and test. (http://www.overclockers.com.au/article.php?id=384179)

k thnx guys. I had been running the 81.95 WHQL drivers. I went back to the 81.85 WHQL drivers and, although I was the only person on the server, it appears to have fixed my problem now can run 1280x1024 4xAA or 1600x1200 2xAA :)
