No... because I agree... <_<
Hmm... I do feel kind of stupid, but I'm not sure we've given it enough time. I haven't had one single minute of SF on the dMw server yet, simply because of bad timing I guess. And I still believe that dMw is the way to go if you wanna play SF...
Maybe we could have a dedicated server running SF maps alongside the normal server?
Anyone?
Well Santa still has my copy,so going by your comments not a lot to look forward to. :(
its just more maps, but for ppl like my who dont play on ranked servers its a bit pants cause i cant get the unlocks

The TG server allows (or did a week ago) you to use any weapon, regardless of your ranking. I don't even have SF yet could use the SF guns&unlocks.
I don't feel so bad, I like the new unlocks and the urban maps are great.
Bear in mind only a few of us have played the urban SF maps (of which there are about 3) on the dMw server. So with those extra maps and Arm's AAS magic we could have urban nights which everyone seems to enjoy.
ie Karkand 1 and 2, Ghost town, Mashtuur City, Warlord etc
And the grappling hooks and zip lines are fun too - especially if you sing the Raiders of the lost ark tune as your using the zip.
I just think we need to give them a proper try and get all the dMw guys on there to try them out.
i was eagerly anticipating this under the tree for some SF DMW action - right up until, well, now!!!!!! its not going to be a hit then - or is it simply not getting played because we all havent got it

I think you've hit the nail on the head their Boris, I don't think enough people have got it to have the same big games we currently enjoy on a normal vanilla BF2 night.

I think we just don't have the numbers to maintain two BF-led servers on a fulltime basis.
It'll end up with a few players per side per server whilst (imho) it would be better to have one full(er) server.
Certainly have a couple of dedicated SF nights but to run two servers.
PEN
I've played SF for a little while now on Ranked servers.
My major complaint is that there is not enough teamwork to make a really good game. It is vital on some maps such as devils perch to work as a unit as some of the buildings and walls need scaling and only the grappling hook (ie: not the zip-line) will work and that is not in all of the classes.
The urban maps are brilliant for anti-tank personell but you also need spec ops to get you through. Ghost town is a brilliant map with loads of potential.
On the pubs it's crap because without the team work, some maps tend to be one-sided victories.
I personally think given the chance SF would work well here.
Good Luck!
I installed SF and blew my setup. Need to mess with profiles etc to get it to work. Now I have a working standard BF2 and a SF which appears to lag beyond belief and certainly beyond useful play. I have to admit I havent tried the single player, but thats not why I bought the game.
I cant comment on the play then, but do watch out when you install coz stuff happens.

After you install SF you have to re-install patch 1.12

To get the problem bits out the way:
The night maps are a big let down, and for some reason ALL the MAPS seem to require extra 'omph' from your computer! (Additional lag - remind me, didn't we already have to have a hugely spec'd machine to play BF2 in the first place?)
Anyway, there IS good stuff in BF2:SF ~ the ZIP wire is not only fun, but does have terific tactical use.
The flash bangs and tear gas are great...As is the additional G36s...And the quads are great fun.
...And the BMP! Well, thats nice.
BUT - and here's where it all falls down - to me SF is a CQB anti-terrorist kinda thing (that the CS guys should've liked), but they chose maps that were not the usual anti-terrorist locations (the airport one made a fleeting attempt to re-create a typical SAS situation).
The main reason this fails is because of a fundemental flaw in BF2 - that being that it does not support 'bobs' (civilians/hostages). SO there is very little SF objectives other than 'kill the rebels'.
:(
This is EXACTLY why I keep banging on about BF2 needing a good co-operative mission mode, with proper objectives like freeing hostages, planting explosives, recoving material, rescue missions and the like.
To conclude, there ARE a few VERY good maps in SF too - but again these are hamstringed because you can't use them in the vanilla BF2!
Ghost Town and Total Destruction would be great to play on our normal BF2 nights!
So...Waste of money?
Well, in so much as dMw won't be playing BF2:SF, yes it is...A great pity.
I can see SF being held on a regular basis but not running continuously as it would detract numbers from the main server. maybe we could start a saturday or sunday night SF night as per friday night is CZ night.

:lmfao: :lmfao: Alright you got me convinced. I need to play some more SF :D
Seriously, I am up for it - a server would be a good idea! I still think the US weapons are overpowered...

I laughed out loud first time I heard Blunt try out a zip line, he litterally whooped with joy as he sailed through the night time air :D

I hope my mind will be changed as more peeps get it for crimbo
I think we decided that because so many people were getting it as a Christmas present we would hold back on running it on the server.
So hopefully we will have it as a regular feature.
We'd better do, it took me a lot of time that I could have been BF2'ing to write the AAS code.

Well I bought it and I don't intend for it to gather dust and as the only place I game is with dMw I think you can see where this is heading  8)
I got it for a birthday present its ok ish might take some time getting into it maybe !!! :bye2:
looks nervously at SF shaped box under chrissy tree
im sure itll be great once the full weight (and its a lot of weight) of the community get behind it
The games we played on the first (and only, so far) AAS:SF night were good.
The urban Ghost Town daytime level was fun and tended to end in large battles at the mid point flag. I made it so that the bases are pretty evenly distributed between the teams, at the mid point both sides have attack choppers (which you suddenly realise aren't much good for the Convoy Wreck).
The Carrier level, with its enclosed CP's makes for some interesting battles, although getting an initial foothold on the carrier may need some tactics to be worked out. I would sudgest we have two rounds on that one with a side switch in between.
Until we get server up again, with everyone on, we won't really know.
