Title: Ranger's X-Fire problems
Post by: Ranger on December 20, 2005, 04:23:34 PM
Right guys -

I've had a couple of complaints that I don't answer X-Fire messages.

To explain, my system seems to have a problem with X-Fire and BF2 - when someone messages me I either get a glitchy message box flashing in and out in front of my BF2, or the message doesnt appear in front at all, BUT BF2 glitches.

Because of this I am now switching off X-Fire while I am playing BF2 (until I get a new second monitor)...

The reason I am doing this is because - when I told Paddy and Dewey about my problems they both went 'Ahhhhh, does it really?' (with evil looks on thier face) - so I now expect X-Fire sabotage of my BF2 play!

I'll still open X-Fire while not in BF2 so I can check who is online.

:narnar:  Paddy and Dewey ~ I have foiled your evil plans!

Dunno if that'll help you. For some unknown reason if I have XFire running on monitor #2 when I load up BF2 I invariably load into the server and immediately drop, before even havign a chance to join a squad. If XFire is backgrounded behind BF2 that doesn't happen. Dunno if it's XFire or the second monitor, as i've never tried joining with the monitor enabled but nowt running on it.

if some one send you a message a littl box flashes up, but as bf2 is the "window" in front it disappears v quickly, if you press scroll lock and x together it will bring it to the front and you can reply, when finished press scroll lock and x to bring bf2 to the front

hope this helps

Yeah that is what I do. It doesn't work in SF though, the box flashes in the corner, but won't stay on top. Nor will the menu.

I can't do it with my otherwise brilliant z-board BF2 keyset...it's ok with the standard 1....(also I can't alt-tab without freezing the pc...but that's another story :( )

I haven't considered getting shot of me z-board coz it's the answer to my prayers (since Doom) ..

I'd just like an answer to my question (http://community.zboard.com/forums/view.asp?topicID=984)

I cant believe that you think we would stoop to such un-dMw like tactics.

To actually suggest we would be that rotten.

Psst. Its ok Dewey I have his phone number, we can ring his missus to disturb him.
