I suppose the next step will be to give out speeding tickets if your seen at one camera to soon from another, should make the roads a lovely place to be once they introduce the new road tax per mile crap too.

in northern ireland we've had that technology up and running for about 5 yrs, theses little small cameras on main roads and at all busy intersections, of course it was to monitor movement of known terraists, but now its used to just monitir whos going where

my car came with cruise so im sorted,

off topic but still related btw using cruise at 70 from stranraer to cardiff (overnight so no stops) i avg 43mpg in a 2.2 petrol, manu said max i could get was 36mpg

I knew it happened in various places, but I meen from other things, like going to fill up & getttin to the next camera your picked up on too quick, & there never gonna give us all cruise control kits, that'd stop loads of people getting fined & the police getting less money.

Stocksbridge bypass.

The system is called SPECS.

They have also put SPECS cameras on the A631 near Bawtry.

Notice how this story comes out less then a week after they announce no more speed cameras. :g:

I know they've got SPECS (http://www.speedcamerasuk.com/SPECS.htm) on the M4, but I've not seen them on the M3 J4-3. I guess I should slow to double figures to take a look on the 26th  :)

They will put a system like that into work here in Norway next year, I think.

Fairly easy solution to this...

Slow down? Stay below the limit.

Or flip the bird at the cozzers and tank it down the hard shoulder screaming like Doris in a all female steam bath.

I always give Squonks name and address when I get pulled (by the roz). PM me with offers and I'll send on the details ;)

The point is not the traffic control bit (although that is questionable too), but the fact that we are approaching a society where you are watched everywhere and all the time...

Think about it: You leave traces when you:
- Use your debet/creditcard
- Leave your cellphone switched on
- Walk the main streets of most big citys (video surveillance)
- Enter shops, buses and other public places (video surveillance)

And now: Automatic surveillance of traffic (obligatory GPS in cars), and (in Norway at least) plans for a national DNA-database.

In addition to all the other kinds of data on you which floats around; Tax papers, real-estate data, car ownerships, your IP-adress, etc.

1984?

2005 is much, much worse!!!     :(

-------------------

Now, I've worked in an insurance company, and I'd just luvv to get my hands on some of that data on you....    :dribble:
