right click the start menu.. at the bottom ....then click properties.... (showing the screen below)

have ticked the 'hide inacative'?? or if you click the customise it will show you what priorities steam is set at in system tray
I get the same thing Mad, Steam closes itself and disapears from the list of programs currently running. Not fussed why though and I have no fix, just wanted to let you know.
In the start menu its set to "always show" , but its not just a case of the icon disappearing ....steam actually closes down ??!!!! (same as JB's by the sound of it ) ..
:blink:
bizarre !!!!

btw...I think my Steam has been doing this lately....I thought it was my memory going so I'm relieved to find it's good ol' Steam again
don't you just love 'em? <_<
Whenever i close steam it seems to uninstall the latest updates to it and so i have to re-download the newer version everythime i want to open steam. :blink:
Lucky that no 1 actually plays CZ when i'm around anymore so it doesn't pose much of a problem. I still think you should make CZ night a different night though. :P

There is a bug in windows were icons from the system tray never appear.
restarting the 'explorer' process seams to bring them back for me, more often than not.
CTRL+ALT+Del and end the 'explorer' process; then
File -> New task -> 'explorer '
Maybe this is totaly irelevent, but though it worth a mention if it wasn't already.
