Title: Class and anti-whinge advice
Post by: Boris on January 04, 2006, 01:53:40 PM
Having played BF2 now since its release, i still havent decided on a class i should specialise in - a favourite for want of a better term.

Definately not sniper, i think im stuck between Spec Ops and AT, but whenever i choose the one in game i always come across a situation where i wish i was the other - someone once said to me that AT was just spec ops with shootable C4!!

Anyone else still undecided?

Secondly, does anyone have any really good tips on convincing SWMBO that its not geeky and to leave you alone for 2-3 hours every Sunday and Monday

I think it's an idea to specialise in two or so classes and leave it at that. For me it's medic and AT. Both perform dramtaically different roles and most situations will have a call for one or other.

I play all classes except Sniper, I got my two medic unlocks so I've started playing medic more - the G36E is a nice gun as is the LA81 (or whatever it is), AT is great but you need the DA0-12 unlock. Why not specialise in both AT and Spec ops?

Regarding SWMBO, I think you have to compromise (well I do anyway). I spend quality time with my wife and she's fine with me playing Bf2 as long as I spend time with her too - so tonight is one of those nights   ;)

Oh the other good idea for me was to get my wife on the net with a wireless network on her mobile - she loves it - and spends a lot of time on that. If your partner has a hobby they enjoy it takes the heat of you  :D

I really like Pens solution - but its a bit pricey.

I normally play Medic with the standard weapons. I have unlocked the SA80 but I don't rate it. Just the ability to heal ones self is worth its wait in gold. I have started playing AT with the DAO-12on more armour intense maps.

Sniper is good with the m95 in SF as I seem to get one shot kills (not sure if it was luck. the rebels wear more armour. the down side of sniper is it's not really a team player class.

For me it's SpecOps or Engineer, but mostly it depends on what my team needs and what my rol is (Commander, Squadleader or Squadmember).

I also like AT and SpecOps but i have to say I prefer SpecOps. I can't play any of the other classes without wishing that i was able to get rid of enemy armour. I haven't played AT much that recently but i do enjoy being able to hit choppers with the n00b tube.  :D

is there room for another medic??? i have only just realised i unlocked the medic weapon yonks ago..... had a bash on a public and enjoyed 'mediccing' - getting the fighting/doctoring balance might take some time to get right tho

The medic unlock is great, I love that gun, virtually no recoil, full auto and ss and very accurate, only downside is the damage isn't very good.

Theres always room for medics Boris. IMO they are the probably the most useful class, you can't beat having a squad alive for winning a game  :D

Good way to rack up points on a ranked server too - esp Karkand!

Bad thing when constantly reviving though is that you might get low on bullets or so.

A nice thing for a medic to know is that from +/- 2 meters away you can revive someone still.
Also when a body is floating in the water, the torso part is usually above the water, make sure your on the wallside though otherwise the pedals don't work.

I do all. Can't chose either. Mostly playing Assault AT and SpecOps. Some medic. Sniper and support when there is a call for it.

Imho don't go for a particular kit. Improve all, so you can play all, and swap as needed. When there is a need for a medic it is good to be able to help out and at the same time have a good unlock.
