browsing thru the planetbattlefield website spotted this...
"As some of you may or may not know, EA has a test server on which they run possible future content. Whether it's weapons or vehicles or internal things is unknown. But, we do know the tentative names of maps they run. They ran Wake Island 2007 on this server and ran maps for Special Forces. At this point in time they have been running some new maps that have not been named before.
Burning Mesa - Doing simple research turns up the following: "Mesa city, Maricopa county, south-central Arizona, U.S. A southeastern suburb of Phoenix, its "tableland" site was settled in 1878 by Mormons who used ancient Hohokam Indian canals for irrigation. The community became the focus of an agricultural and fruit-growing region, developed from a Salt River reclamation project." Perhaps China or the M.E.C attacks the United States via Mexico. There might be a chance this isn't even the right "Mesa" for which the map is named. But, this plays into the expansion pack of a Europe vs. U.S. situation.
Taraba Quarry - "Taraba state, eastern Nigeria. It was created in 1991 from the southwestern half of former Gongola state. Taraba is bordered on the north and northeast by Bauchi and Adamawa states, on the west and southwest by Plateau and Benue states, and on the south and southeast by Cameroon."
A war in Africa? Islam has more than infiltrated Africa; it wouldn't be out of the question to say some of the ones closer to Asia will participate in the Middle East Coalition.
Great Wall - This isn't very hard. This map would most likely take place in China. The great wall is pretty long; I don't know how it would be a valuable asset from the tactical point of view. It might be a map like Kubra Dam."
This is only rumour but a quick google shows these may form part of a future patch or expansion pack 2. I hope they are part of a patch as I would not shell out for a few new maps.
that will nice to have a image, Great wall? american never can beat china at this far, we are untouchable :P :D :)
More info on maps mentioned and the two 'booster packs' i.e. boost EA profits. <_<
Good news on the new patch though :)
QuoteCommunity Bulletin â€" January 11, 2005
Hello everyone and a Happy New Year to all of you.
Today we have some big announcements that we’re excited to share with you! First of all, news about 2 new booster packs that will expand the battlefields of Battlefield 2: Battlefield 2: Euro Force and Battlefield 2: Armored Fury.
Euro Force will be released on February 8th and sees the introduction of the all-new European Army in 3 new maps. Each Euro soldier will come equipped with a new primary weapon, from the FNP90 to the Benelli Tactical Shotgun. There will also be 4 new vehicles, including the (in)famous Eurofighter.
The 3 maps are "Operation Smoke Screen", "The Great Wall of China and "Taraba Quarry". Click here to view screenshots from Battlefield 2: Euro Force.
Armored Fury will be released on March 28th and the focus is on large mechanized battles, harking back to the El Alamein style maps on BF1942. There will be 3 new maps â€" "Midnight Sun", "Operation Harvest" and "Operation Road Rage" â€" but also 2 new vehicle classes. Attack Jets and Recon Helicopters, which can spot nearby enemy units, will make their debut.
Both packs will be available exclusively online at //www.downloader.ea.com at £5.99.
As well as these booster packs, we are of course still utterly devoted to providing updates to Battlefield 2. We can’t say it enough; thank you all for your support and dedication! Update 1.2 is currently undergoing public beta testing and will be released very soon. As with the first list, this second list includes confirmed fixes only:
- Server search filters now work properly
- All mines (Claymore, Anti-vehicle, C4) can now be picked up by the same class that dropped it by using the "G" key.
- Mines can no longer be destroyed with other explosives
- Flash bang effect radius decreased
- Added unlocks for Sniper and AT kits
- Fixed a bug in terrain rendering with night vision, whereby terrain was still dark in dark areas.
- Fixed a bug whereby mods that are not bf2 or not xpack permutate shaders every time a level is loaded.
- Fixed a bug whereby non-xpack mods cannot use xpack shaders.
- Fixed bug in TV guided missiles of Havoc helicopter
- Bug in MP7 fire rate fixed. Ammo count increased and mag count and damage decreased
- APC Update â€" "Chinese and MEC APCs can now shoot through penetrable materials". This fix was a miscommunication to the patch team. Chinese and MEC APC’s have been reverted and the LAV25 now no longer shoots through penetrable materials.
- Vehicles no longer disappear when viewed from some vehicles with a HUD (e.g. Tanks).
- Performance gain found in static mesh rendering.
- Detonation radius from grenade launcher explosions has been reduced.
- Grenade launcher projectiles now have a minimum time before arming.
This is a list of confirmed fixes only â€" we are still looking at others that we hope to be able to announce soon. As always, thanks for your support and keep talking â€" we’re listening.

Key features
Three New Maps
"Operation Smoke Screen", "The Great Wall of China and "Taraba Quarry".
New weaponry
Each Euro soldier comes equipped with a new primary weapon, from the FNP90 to the Benelli Tactical Shotgun.
Four new vehicles
Including the (in) famous Eurofighter
And another £15! Not this time.
EDIT: Oh how hasty I was. How I misjudged EA :( Only £12.98 the two!
:withstupid:
OK I got suckered into getting SF and only played it once. I do enjoy the zip lines and grappling hooks and can look back on it as a learning exercise.
:withstupid: also. Now there taking the p***.
I'm gonna buy it, cos I didnt buy SF :D
Quite like the look of these items in the forthcoming patch:

Spec Ops being able to defuse enemy C4 on a flag will be cool. As will Snipers being able to get rid of pesky claymores.
The having explosively destructable mines were a step backwards IMHO, and it's nice to see these being useful in defence once more.
The GL arming distance will make it the weapon of skill that it ought to be.

Don't do it! If you must get a new pack get SF as it is what most of us already have, so if we run a SF server you will be able to join and we're unlikely to run a differnet new pack one as no-one has it.

I agree with the mines thing.
I don't see how you can remove a claymore as they are proximity triggered. How do you get close enough without it going bang? Unless it doesn't 'sense' snipers?

They only go bang if you enter the 45 degree arc out from the front face. If you're observant enough and they've been planted poorly, you can approach them from behind without setting them off.
Try it in an open area as a sniper. Throw one on the floor and you can run around to your heart's content behind the thing. Take one step in front of it and you're toast.
i dont fancy disarming some C4 either while some sneaky sod with the detonator in his hand sits on a roof top chuckling to himself
