Title: 'Who's on on what day' chart
Post by: Ranger on January 10, 2006, 11:50:56 AM
I came up with this idea for another group I play with ~ turned out to be very popular. SO thought I would mention it here.

The idea is that this is a very simple pictorial guide to who is on when - it's NOT a firm commitment to be on, just a guide to your online gaming habits so others can judge when good times to come on are.

Here's an example of a chart I did for another clan (names on left obscured):

Each square represents two hours - so, for example, the last three squares represent 7pm-midnight.

As I say - its just a quick guide to busy times on the server/online so people can see what days/times are the busy times...

(On the other clans who use this, they usually run a sticky thread called 'Who's on chart' and admin the chart from here with a person - usually me - in charge of collating the data and keeping the chart up-to-date - it ain't a big job).

Be interesting to hear what you think - or how usful you think it might be in the context of dMw.

cool idea you could do one for bf2 and  one for cs,  would all dMw members be on each one?

or would you do the regulars on each with an option to add names if ppl want to be on both ?

I see it lasting three weeks max.  There'll be some die-hards who will update religiously, but normal mortals will give up after a short while.

Now, if you can take previous playing times and extrapolate predictive data to produce a chart of what times people will likely be playing in the future...

Why not just use the existing tools (MSN/X-fire etc) to tell you who is online and when.  It's guaranteed to be accurate when you look at it and will never get out of date!

Well, I'll be on a whole bunch this week, then when Uni starts up again next week I'll only be on on Mondays and Wednesdays (8-10ish) as I'll be in classes otherwise.
