On the Teamspeak front I reckon my connection can't handle TS and GTL so maybe if we used dMw TS. There's an LFS section on it.

I can probably host some files. My uni account has some vague limit to the size of my webspace, but sometimes I can host large files. No idea if they monitor bandwidth usage... point me at the files to host and I'll see what I can do?

...it seems I have approx 10-15Mb cap now (sigh. someone noticed...) but I can possibly make files up to 100Mb available in the short-term

I don't know if you got the explaination last night but it's what happens if a server is running a track you don't have. I only just twigged that myself a couple of days ago.

Gather up any track you can get your hands on then you'll never be caught out.

Got nothing to do with anything, but it's bloody SNOWING!  :(

I think it might be an idea to bring all of the links here into a single post somewhere so that new users can easily gather the additions that are needed.  Any chance someone could do that please? (cos it will save me weeks/days/hours/minutes of hunting around later!)

Maybe I'll be more specific.

Is there a single list linking to the specific downloads, rather than a link to a single forum through which you can dig?  It would be nice to have a single post with all of the download links to use/needed stuff that we have to download.  Guides are fine, but specific links are difficult and a link to a forum with *everything* is not great as I have no idea which bits of *everything* is needed.

I just went here (http://forum.deadmen.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=13096) and downloaded the game patch and the tracks that are listed there. That was it. I didn't bother with any of the setups and stuff and found that the cars drove rather well with their defaults.

I'll probably play more once I get into it a bit more.

Benny,
Make sure you get the latest patch (http://www.gtlegends.com/news_en.php?news=20051128) installed and then jump onto Teamspeak. Then someone can guide you through getting an online account set up and finding the server.
It looks like there'll be a racing session tonight, if you use X-fire you should see if anyone is playing GTL.
It's a doddle, I'm sure you could work it out yourself. Basically get online, login and find the DMR server and join.

The couple of laps I did I enjoyed. I would like to race on this with the lower powered cars, what with all the twists and dips it would give more opportunity for passing without having to nudge people off the track (Sorry Ron   )

I'm only getting around 10 fps on Cadwell  :roflmao: , with my cruddy old 9200 card so it's a no-no for me, as is Thruxton (finally got it working) Interlargos, Bathhurst, The mother, Brans Hatch, Silverstone, and a few others too. Strangely Suzuka works great at 30+fps, as does Kyalami, Sears Point & lots of others.
Getting a 9800se in a week or so, not a brilliant card, but it's a stop gap to getting a pro, and it was only £40 quid. Hoping it'll make a reasonable difference, I have a 2.8 P4 and a gig of memory so with any luck....

I over clocked my 9200 yesterday   by about 45%, and it's improved things alot. Thruxton is now running really well in the mid 30s, I'm getting late teens to mid twenties on Cadwell even. I'm getting 40 - 50s at Misano, Suzuka, Kyalami  etc :D
Changed my order, getting a 9700 Pro next week, 8 pixel pipelines or something, 'stead a 4, so it should transform my framerates  :D
Haven't dl'ed those 2 tracks yet, will do tonight, thanks for that.

I tried the same with my 9600XT. Gpu 500 -> 580 MHz, RAM 300 -> 380 MHz. In pit in Cadwell I went from 25 to 29 fps  <_<

I clocked the FSB and CPU up a bit via software as well 200 -> 208 MHz and I got up to 31  :eyebrow:

and ideas out there? I am prob. just in need of a new card I guess...

Never have overclocked gfx cards often so I can't help, sorry.  I'm running an X850XT at the moment so I don't really need to.  I used to have an overclocked Voodoo5 and it worked very well.  I think a new card may be required to get the best out of GTL, in large fields of cars even my card struggles!
Title: GTL add-ons
Post by: suicidal_monkey on June 06, 2006, 03:39:26 PM
tbh you want to be getting at least 10% in an overclock to get a noticeable result, 20% preferrably. The drivers I was using for my radeon (omega drivers?) came with an ati twearker thing that let me alter the memory and gpu clocks. Basically just made my card artifact... If you're down in the 30fps region you should be okay to play. It's not great but it's good enough to play! I mean, I think I play BF2 and CSSource at about 30fps a lot of the time!

You may well have done all this, but have you tried disabling the trackside animations and enabling the high process priority, also removing the hands and feet from the steering wheel in the your plr file. They have varying effects on different tracks but the difference is always noticeable.

I have trackside off. Enabling high priority gave about 1fps. I have enabled the driver and wheel, with trackIR enabled I need that to orientate

What I did find out though... dropping to DX8 shader doubles the framerate (more really, from 25 to 61)... I think I need to see how much this matters in GTL, I does not seem to use it as well as in HL2?

:( I can't get downloads from rapidshare to work. I get to the 'enter the three character code and press go' screen and then it goes to a screen that says that either the key is not valid or timed out and to retry.
Any thoughts?

RS relies on seeing a unique IP address. Unfortunately, BT customers are forwarding a proxy IP and as such are unable to use RS  <_<

I've tried using anonymous proxies but everyone is trying the same so you end up with the 'you're already downloading a file' message. Ho hum.

:roflmao:  Nothing to do with case sensitive letters then! They'd love that information on RSC. Rapidshare drives them nuts!

Heads up chaps! New Silverstone (http://forum.rscnet.org/showpost.php?p=3047831&postcount=1), well, an updated one. Those of you that couldn't see start light will now see them! Lots of other stuff. It does look nice and I understand framerates are improved etc etc.
Please tell your friends, the ones who can't be TANGO'd to read the forum about it.
Don't forget the camera update as well.
I'm installing this version on the server so there ought to be no mismatches.
I get the feeling that this is the final throw at Silverstone so go get it chaps.
That includes you Doggers.

Last bit(Jeez I'm p*ssed!) delete the old one first and delete the Silverstone HAT file. GTL\UserData\LOG\HAT\
Bloody hell, I look after you guys!

And goodnight to you.

Can't remember where it was but someone reported Thruxton as not being on no-grip.
Well it's back on. Apparently someone had a blonde moment.

Thanks Ron.

Is there an official track list for the server. I'm not sure BB's is totally up-to-date.

I'm trying to work out which tracts to install from no-grip.

On an aside, I really enjoyed racing last night - still at majorly rookie stage and watching you guiys speed off into th distance but I'm sure I'll ge better (hopefully).

Thanks for the help from everyone !

There's also a snowy version to drive on. Problem with this track, you tend to dissapear inside the mountains.    It hasn't been fixed on the snowy version either. Don't think we'll using that track again in a hurry.

Update to my 'New Silverstone' post. It's now on no-grip.net. So no excuses for not having the right one!
