So I hope I no one has reviewed this one before :D ...
I have been meaning to see the film for quite some time. The movie (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0375063/combined) first got my attention by being successful at various film festivals and after seing Paul Giamatti in American Splendor (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0305206/combined) I wanted to find it. But, for some reason, I kept bringing all other kinds of films back from Blockbuster. That is, until a few days ago.
The acting is natural and the dialogue is great â€" especially between the two main characters - and if you don't mind a movie that dwells at the characters a bit, then you will love this. Giamatti is excellent, I am beginning to think that these characters are close to his being, since they are so natural to him, and the style of character played in Sideways is not that different from American Splendor.
You end up feeling for the characters despite their flaws in life. The movie is basically about soul searching and is not recommended as family entertainment with the kids â€" actually I would advise against that… but if you are in the mood for some funny scenes with a thoughtful touch on real life then give it a go.
Having 1.300 films in my IMDB vote history it is getting difficult to get by with only 10 different grades to give, but after some thought it ended at a small 9.
