Title: BF2:SF
Post by: DuVeL on January 27, 2006, 02:48:43 PM
Hi guys. I need a quick decision. I still have to work a short while and I'm thinking of buying BF2:SF (maybe this afternoon).

Do you guys think it's worth it? Do alot of you play it?
Answers please.

we do have a server, just no one plays it, But it's worth the money just for the extra guns and medals

the night maps suck but the extra unlocks are worth it as said previously. what is needed from EA really are quality maps this is what made EA; with the original BF1942. Hopefully with the release of mods like POE2 and Forgotten Hope 2 new life will be breathed into BF2 as things "seem" to be growing a little stagnant with current maps. Is anyone in the dmw community a map creator? I would like to see more official (urban) maps released by EA rather than booster packs. I am waiting with great anticipation for the TOTAL BF2 map pack 3 to get a run out on the dmw server, there really is no greater fun to be had (sic: of course there is?) than a battle over the cisterns on your server.

I cant remember ever having spent £17 (on BF2) and getting so many hours njoyment out of it..... but then there was that night out on Burgos Street...

K, so I bought it and installed it.
I wanted to join a server but I got this:
This server only allows players with unmodified content to join. Revert your Battlefield 2 to the current official version to join.

I have everything installed the way it should be so: Help? :help2:

Did you reinstall the 1.12 patch after installing SF?

I'm sensing a pattern here... ;)

Even if the answer is 'yes', try installing the 1.12 patch again. Seriously. I've seen other people on this forum say it worked for them on about the 3rd attempt.

its the random patch monster again, i for one installed bf2 sf and then the patch and had no probs yet other ppl do the same thing and they get bsod's and such and the server saying that the game is modded to an unrecognised version, i say shame on ea for doing the same to bf2 as they did to bf1942  as in fcuking up things

I'll try it tonight.
Still a bit weird though that EA can't get it to work properly together.

I've been working on and off on a map set in afghanistan, against a Taliban chopper base, but with exams haven't done much for a while. It's mainly a mess around to teach myself stuff map. If there are particular requests, SAK3 for example ;) I might be able to have a crack at one.

Does the Taliban have an Air Force? Join the TAF and fly blindly!

They used to before the USMC invaded. The gameplay is a bit rubbish in the map though I think. It's a lot harder to structure decent gameplay in BF2 than it was in CS. Any other requests which might prove easier to design and balance will be appreciated.
