Title: LAN IX - Booking Details
Post by: TeaLeaf on February 01, 2006, 09:23:46 AM
We are delighted to announce confirmation of the dates for the latest in the highly successful series of dMw LAN parties:

dMw LAN IX will be held on 21st, 22nd and 23rd April 2006

Please note that we have a maximum of 44 places and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Members of dMw's Charlie & Delta Companies are hereby given advance notice of the event.
Bravo Company members will not be able to see this thread or book places at the LAN for a further 3 days,
Alpha Company members will not be able to see this thread or book places at the LAN for a further 7 days,

To confirm your attendance please reply to this thread and then book your own room direct with the hotel.[/SIZE]

LAN IX Details:

Dates:  Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd April 2006
Venue:  Oliver Cromwell (http://www.olivercromwellhotel.co.uk/), March, Cambridgeshire.
Times: The LAN venue opens at 11.00am Friday morning and the LAN will finish by 5.00pm on Sunday
Costs: For the venue - £15 total per head for the whole weekend
Costs: NOW REDUCED:
£56 per room double occupancy(£28 pp) Bed & Breakfast
£45 sole occupancy Bed & Breakfast
(was: £57 for single occupancy and £68 for double)
Room Availability: 35 x Double; 8 x Twin

If you book a Twin Room and want to share the costs of the room then when you post in this thread to confirm your attendance then also make a note of the fact you have a Twin room booked and are looking for someone to share with.

As before, the reduced accomodation and function room rates have been negotiated on the basis that the majority of the attendees will partake of the excellent cuisine offered by either the hotel restaurant's Fixed price, A La Carte or Bar menus on the Friday night.  JOIN US for the WELCOME DINNER on Friday evening in Ballroom 2.  Eating at the hotel is NOT mandatory, but I am sure that any attendee from the last couple of LANs will vouch for the quality of both the food and the company!

The Oliver Cromwell offers:PLEASE BOOK YOUR OWN ACCOMMODATION DIRECT WITH THE HOTEL - CALL THEM NOW!
When calling you *must* mention that you are booking in on the dMw rate, otherwise they will charge you full price!
ALSO:
When booking your room please give them both your real name AND your GAMING NAME so that I can keep tabs of who has booked and who has not.[/b]

When the Oliver Cromwell is fully booked you will need to book into the The Olde Griffin Hotel, March, Cambridgeshire (http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/hotels/oldegrif.html) which is 200yds down the road or a B&B etc.

Amongst other things the LAN will feature:

- a list of officially supported games (BF2 and CS variants will both be there)
- organised competitions
- official LAN Admins
- late night gaming

LAN IX is going to be our best ever.  Book your place now to make sure you do not miss out!

Enjoy!

Anyone want to share a room? DA doesn't reply his PM's.
Also needed a ride from and to the airport (but I think DA will cover that).

As mentioned somewhere by Delan, I'm sharing a room with him. I do need a ride from the airport though, and since I'll be coming from Garda Lake, Italy it seems I'll be landing in Gatwick, not Stanstedt. Any chance someone could be there to pick me up?

Mono,

Gatwick's going to be a toughie I imagine.

As far as I'm aware there's not too many people from the South-East. I am, but will be dropping the family off at the in-laws in Cambridgeshire on Thursday night and going from there so I'm sorry I can't help.

That said, I do recall a couple of people live on the South Coast which will pass Gatwick - just not sure who they were...

Train would be hard although you could take the City Thameslink from Gatwick which goes straight  through the centre of London and through to St Albans That would put you more in line with people travelling in from the West coming round the M25.

Or you can get an airport to airport bus transfer from Gatwick to Stanstead for about £30 return (http://www.nationalexpress.com/destinations/airports.cfm)

The final option is quite laboured going from Gatwick to London Bridge then tube to Liverpool Street then train to Stanstead but that's like 3 hours.

You can get trains from Stanstead to March I think

Only takes one hour and goes via Cambridge.

quick look on //www.thetrainline.com - You could get from gatwick to kings cross where you can catch a lift if possible, otherwise a train up to either cambridge(2 hours) or to march via Ely (2:45) ... times for a friday train leaving at 1200. Not the niceset of journeys, keep your fingers crossed for a lift from somewhere!

I think he'd be best getting the Airport to Airport transfer from Gatwick to Stansted and then grabbing a lift from there or getting the direct train to March. It's gotta be easier than trapsing through the centre of town and moving from train to train.

They go every half hour and it takes about 3 hours direct and costs £30 return.

http://tinyurl.com/daomz (http://tinyurl.com/daomz)

Then it's a pick-up at Stansted or a train to March where I'll be waiting with a cold beer for him!  :D

I guess the bus to stanstead is easier in terms of being direct, but it takes 3 hours. By train you could get all the way to March in about 2:45 (return on sunday closer to 3) Looks like it'd cost about £40 return. Alternatively you can get to stanstead by train from gatwick in about 2 hour for approx £33 return. You do have to change in london and it requires slightly more faffing about, but it could be quicker? Just my 2p :) Hopefully there'll be someone in the vicinity of south london coming up though!

AFAIK Gandy lives in Eastbourne.  I believe he's already booked his place at the LAN, and Gatwick could be factored in to his route up to March without too much upset.

Drop him a PM and see if he might be able to pick you up.

Please note that the room prices we will be charged for LAN IX have increased slightly from the price we have been charged over the previous 2 years.  The hotel is now under new management and and their standard charges have risen considerably, although we have still managed to negotiate a significant discount on the normal rates.

Hello,

Long time no speak.  Curse the addictiveness of World of Warcraft!

Both myself (Karrde) and Brother Tobious from [dg] will be coming along after some badgering from Suicidal Monkey.  Sadly I have to share a twin room with him

Now I just got to blow cobwebs off my joystick and remember you don't level up after each kill.

Can I use rifles without seeing the trainer first?

JOIN US for the WELCOME DINNER on Friday evening in Ballroom 2. Eating at the hotel is NOT mandatory, but I am sure that any attendee from the last couple of LANs will vouch for the quality of both the food and the company!

The Oliver Cromwell offers:

When the Oliver Cromwell is fully booked you will need to book into the The Olde Griffin Hotel, March, Cambridgeshire (http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/hotels/oldegrif.html) which is 200yds down the road or a B&B etc.

Amongst other things the LAN will feature:

No need to keep asking/posting, I reckon there is still a spot left as there are now 33 confirmed LANattendees (see other thread).
If you're searching for a roomm8 or so then I'd suggest you post here: LINK (http://forum.deadmen.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=12622)
