Lo fellas. Long time no see.
Had major broadband probs for months and first thing I tried to do when I got sorted was patch BF2 to 1.12.
PC puffs and pants a while then tells me it can't find the destination folder (I know I selected default originally). So I read a few forums who said best thing was to uninstall the game and start again - fine.
Except that the uninstall feature won't work. It looks like its tryin to reinstall and then drops to desktop without an error message.
Whats a guy gotta do start crashing heli's again??? :ranting:
Any ideas anyone?
Cheers

HAT'friggin'SUMI!
Good to see you back, as for the BF2 stuff...erm...'I dunno'
Automaticly install the patch. If doesn't work the first time, try to repatch it! I've reinstalled mine 3 times before it finally worked.
Make sure you have LOTS of free space on your hard disk in the c: drive
Lo Duv,
Patch won't install - tried several times.
Uninstall feature won't work in BF2 either for some reason.
Still at least you're safe while I can't get on your server :narnar:
I got 43.6GB free on HD Blueball. Should be enough no?

Yup, should be fine with that (just making sure coz I know you needed 300mb or so free)
Manually delete it all, then re-install?

And through Configuration and then programs?
Otherwise, re-enter the game disc. It should start up again, try it from there.
Well, if you get on the server, be prepared, I just made it to First Sergeant this evening. Also our publicservers is really more difficult then a normal public 1.
Tried to uninstall through control panel - remove programs. Still not happening!
Could manually delete but then I'll have to TANGO about with the registry won't I?
Jeeeeeeeezzzzzzzz
Thanks for the suggestions anyway fellas. See you on servers soon....I hope :D
Tryed Googling for the answer? You're probably not the first with that problem (I had loads of problems aswell).
Check here: http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_3.html (http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_3.html)
Suggestion: do you have the latest drivers for everything? Who knows, they might be interfearing with any thing installed (latest sounddrivers and graphicdrivers).

Not really relevent here, but I had a HD space problem when I installed the patch, because I have a small partition for Windows and things at C:\, with everything else on other partitions. The stupid installer wanted to use C:\Program Files, and I had to go into the registry to make D:\ the default drive for Program Files. Way to go EA - learn to program an installer fer chrissakes.
Interesting. I have BF2 installed on D:\Program Files and the patch autodetected the location and installed it fine. Weird.

And so it should. However, you
still need a enough free space on the C Drive or the installer fails.

I think this should read
and you still need enough free space on the [Windows] drive? My C drive is pretty titchy, I have windows on the D drive, and BF2 is installed on the E drive  I could be wrong as when I say pretty titchy it's still got a Gb or two to play with most of the time
Hey Hatsumi, any luck yet?
 Still no joy. Mailed EA technical who got me to download a registry erazor  and then manually delete in program files and also the file in my documents. Then I had to empty my recycle bin just in case. Just to make sure, I checked that there was no mention of bf2 in the uninstall registry.
Still the installer fails every time and drops back to desktop :dribble:
I think I'm losing the will to live........
See you all in BF3!
