If anyone wants to try Day of Defeat:Source then you can play it free this weekend to see if you like it.

Bump,

starts at midday(GMT) today (Friday)

60 hours of free gaming.

Maybe we should make it a date for our Saturady evening game.

Create a desktop shortcut and then try forcing it to either OpenGL or DirectX using the command line switches in the shortcut. All command line switches can be found here (http://home.covad.net/~k25125/SteamyThings/HL_Command_Line_Switches_FAQ.htm)

Start Steam
Open the "games"  window
Find DoD:S in the "My Games" list
Right click on it and select "create desktop shortcut" from the menu that appears

You can then right click on the shortcut and select properties.
Add any of the command line switches that you want, save and close.

Example

Default shortcut for me is:

"C:\Program Files\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 300

notice how -applaunch 300 is outside the quote marks. You can add other switches as follows:

"C:\Program Files\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 300 -console -d3d -w 1024

Would start it in full screen mode at 1024x768 using Direct3D and would also enable the console.

have a read through the list and see what you can do - Make sure your config files are NOT read only before starting this because any changes you make using in game options will not be saved if the config is read only.

only other thing I can think of is to start it in software mode and see if it runs then - worth a try?
