Title: Water cooling
Post by: Stryker on February 17, 2003, 01:00:07 PM
What a wonderful world.... even if your not planning on over clocking.  Seems if you use a device to cool the water that is air based (room air) then there is not much worry about condensation either.... IE using a radiator & fan the water cannot become cooler than the ambient air temp.

I jest ye not, there would be nothing stopping me from just getting the water block, pump and then running the inlet/outlet through me fish tank... I have a 100 litre tank, I reckon it would easily displace just 50watts of heat (typical for AMD 2200+ XP).... problem is its not very portable :-)

The ittle radiators with 80mm fan cost around £40.  The pump is around £40, the water block (bit on cpu) is around £30-40, I like the maze3.  Then around £20 for a reservoir tank, + £5 for pipes and fittings etc.

I'm so tempted, some nice links:

water cooling is great, as long as it doesn't leak!

oh, and don't forget the additive. you don't want green pipes now do you :)

One of my mates in the states did build a small fish tank into his pc and backlit it with uv and had a fish that flouresed in it. Transported it to a Lan and one best case mod. Am trying to find the links to it for you.

wow ghosty, find those links, how COOL is that?

I guess you could use a fish tank so long as the circulation was closed IE cooling liquid not in contact with fish water.... Doggers said you could then keep tropical fish.... prob is they all die when you turn off ur pc :-)

This site seems about the best http://www.over-clock.co.uk (http://www.over-clock.co.uk) price wise.  If anyone knows somewhere that does water cooler kit even cheaper please let me know.
