I'm planning to do Scotland (for the second time) on motorcycle this year.
Do any of you Scots (or others) know when the best time of year is? I'd like to increase the chances of having nice weather...
Depends what angle you like your rain :narnar:
I attempted to reply earlier, but I'm still confused - best time, Scotland & nice weather, erm, pardon?
July and August are your best bet. As for Rizzy :bitch:
End of June start of July is usually quite good. You'll know it's summer coz the rain is warm :)
But what about the nadgers?

Last time I was in Scotland we got absolutely ravaged by the little buggers.
Just after the apocalypse?

use this (http://www.ellis-brigham.com/cgi-bin/psProdDet.cgi/274640%7C%7C@cInsect===Protection@bLifesystems%7C0%7Cuser%7C%7C21%7C). It's excellent :D
I've heard that the second week in June is normally good. Not very hot, but usually sunny, relatively dry and the midges haven't all woken up yet.
As long as you aren't camping, or have a decent four-seasons bag, it should be warm enough.

From the article:
"To find out the full story of the midget, you need to get hold of a copy of George Hendry's remarkable bestseller, "Midgets in Scotland", which you can purchase via the bookshop section at the foot of this page.
Midgets occur more in the north and west of Scotland than in the south or the east. They especially like wet and uncultivated land, something those parts of Scotland have in super-abundance."
Interesting (mis)read :roflmao:

Actually, last 3-4 yrs April/May has been fantastic.
But generally, like most of the UK, take your chance.
Least we don't have droughts up here.
Thanx for a lot of good (?) advice...
I were in Scotland last year. 10 days, no rain, sunny all the time save for one day (which was in England, anyway). This was early june.
My calendar says I have to go either the first week in june, or the last week in june.
I'll take my chances....
