Just a quicky to say nice to see some of the old gang on the OBC UK server...

ALTHOUGH, a 'hello' would have been nicer than the bombload that Cadaver dropped on me head last night!

Heh!

I didn't bother checking the play list as I was only on for quick some warm-up ranking before hopping on MH. So was pleasantly surprised to see you on, alive and kicking, albeit briefly.

I'd like to say I singled you out individually for some special treatment Ranger, but you were just one of a few faceless green blips on my HUD, during my brief period in a jet, that I managed to hit last night.  ;)  Would've said 'Hello' but that flag you were at looked to be a proper hot zone, and I doubt the message would've been noticed.

That's a pretty busy server you chaps have got there. It's only the second (or third) time I think I've managed to get on it, due to the number of reserved slots. Monkey and I were also on late Monday (at least, I think it was Monday - the mind's going) but didn't see anyone else we knew. Do you manage to see much teamwork on it, outside of the [OBC] squads? My experience was it played pretty much like any other ranked public I've been on, i.e. every man for for himself. Not necessarily a bad thing, because at least it's busy.

Hi Cadaver, nice to hear you bombed Ranger  :lmfao:

Yes the OBC servers are always busy. There are currently discussions to reduce the number of reserve slots which would make it easier for public guys to get on - I've got one of the reserved slots so I get on without any problems  :D

Monday nights are practice nights for our platoon ie Ranger, Paddy and myself which may explain why you didn't see anyone you recognised. I'm on tonight if you venture on. Sundays you'll see us all on there.

I always try and speak to you guys if I see you on (though its difficult as I'm on Vent so the OBC guys here me chatting to you too).

I couldn't comment on the teamwork side outside of OBC but I'm sure its as you describe unless your on the OBC side, though that depends on how many OBC guys are on.

Last Sunday on the 64 Uk server we had the whole of one side as OBC. Thats the thing with the server unless your OBC your missing out on the Squad tactics, comms etc as all the OBC guys are on Ventrillo and chatting to each other.

It would be nice to see you guys arrange a dMw away day on our server on say a Sunday night, that way you guys would be promoting teamwork and enjoying it more?

Theres 4 OBC servers to choose from if that ones busy, including a City maps server and SF.

Ranger and I like the US server... its like listening to an excert from 'Full Metal Jacet' or Apocalypse now - a lot of those guys are ex marines/seals etc - particularly humerous when you then hear a brummie accent reply to them :D

Mhhmmzzz, if all OBC are on one side, I'd leave immediatly. Sorry, no pun intended but I came across a few clanservers which did the same. Put all it's clanmembers on 1 side and then crush the opponents. Sometimes when you're to good against them they'd kick me...or:
On one server I got banned for CarC4. What happend was me using stealth, sneaking around place C4, get a save distance and KABOOM!! Result: Banned!

I will check the server out, you'll find out when!!

I think it would help. Whenever I've seen it in the server browser, the player count's usually maxed-out. I look elsewhere at that point for a ranking fix.

I'm not too sure how the reserved slot reporting works in the broswer. I.e. I mostly see your server quoted as 48/64 (16) even when there are people with the [OBC] tag playing. My current guess is the server browser only lists the publicly available slots, not the true number of people playing.

I know what you mean, I'd feel the same way.

Thats why its being looked at,  to ensure we get the most amount of players on the server.

QuoteSure. I'll have a word, and see if I can whip up some interest with the lads. Sort of a ranking away-day if you will. The only obstacle I can see is getting an entire -=[dMw]=- squad on to a very busy public server. Maybe something can be arranged with your admin guys in advance if we set a definite time, date, and player count for it?

That sounds like a good idea. It would be great to see a squad of fair playing tactical dMw guys on server.

QuoteNot suggesting a formal scrim kind of deal. Real-life™ getting in the way of most guy's regular BF2 participation, and the fact we're conditioned to playing AAS stylee on the 'hook, we'd in all fairness be owned quite substantially by any well-practiced team. However, something along the lines of having some -=[dMw]=- chaps turn up at a set time, and play as a squad with the other pubbers would be favourite.

I'll ask some of the admin guys if thats possible, and then get back to you. It would be a good way for you guys to get some ranking points (as you should do well working in a squad and using comms) and see what non-AAS is like, obviously players like Duvel play ranked anyway so would offer advice.

QuoteWatch this space, will be in touch. ;)
