I confess I didn't. I watched a bug eating other bugs and that you could modify your bug with different pieces of kit. I fast forwarded to where the said bug had grown into a somewhat larger bug that could build towns 'n' stuff. At that point I said 'enough!'

I think for me it'll be another one like the Sims 2. I'll be obsessed with it for 2 or 3 weeks, and play it to the exclusion of everything else, but then the innovativeness of it will probably wear off and i'll not touch it again, becuase i'm not convinced anything apart from the initial fun of designing your own creatures will hold my interest. Each time they release an expansion for the Sims 2 i get it and play it for a week or so again, but then I get bored of it quite quickly, and it sits on the shelf gathering dust (or, more accurately, my girlfriend nicks it to play, as I am no longer bothered with it).

I have to say that although initially impressive it could end up quite linear (halflife 2 springs to mind). However if they get the online bit right being able to combat other users life forms could give it that little longetivity boost.

We promised eachother not to play it though, not untill we graduate.

I haven't got it yet. I bought the creature creator and my interest in the game died off a little. I'll get it eventually. If it was on steam I'd have probably got it already. The EA downloader put me off, I suppose I could always get the disk version.

I work at Game and won a sales contest, so I got the Galactic Edition for nowt. :D
Spore is a fun toy rather than a fun game.
Also the space stage is rubbish, as i've had to go back to my homeworld every 30 seconds to defend it.

I do like it. I serious object ot the DRM that comes with it. Unfortunately I only found out about it *after* buying and installing the game. It didn't stop my gaming like the DRM in Bioshock did, cos the Spore servers didn't flake over under the load, but I objec tto having something running in the background consuming resources all the time just to check i'm using a valid copy of the game.As it logs you on to the online server eveyry time you play *anyway* what's wrong with the WoW model of anyone can install any copy they like and copy the disks as much as they like but your online account must be linked to a unique valid CD key for you to play?
It's EA. They're scum basically. Oh and the game is a pile of poo. Five small games all of which scream average. Like so many EA offerings it's loads of hype, pretty pictures and absolutely no substance at all. :angry:
I actually quite like the game, though I do have a bit of a bog where certain objects don't appear in the vehicle/building creator. it appears everything with a 'sparkle' effect I only see the sparkle and not the object. Have been hunting online to try and find out if it's a Vista, 64 bit or ATI bug, but i've found nowt.
Love the game.. And boy do I not say that very often about games. Only thing i don't like about it is how boring space gets.. After a while of constant pleas for help from some planet I've never heard of, I went off to the centre of the galaxy.. Found the Grox and died instantly... Grrr... Think I'll just stick with evolving new species from cell to civilisation
