Theres not a complete solution. I would recommend a mixture of solutions which between them will cover about 100%.

Microsft AntiSpyware
AdAware
and another one whose name I can't remember (mihgt be search and destroy IIRC)

ad-aware

spybot search and destroy

ewido anti-malware (free full use for 30 days, then free as a passive scanner thereafter - active protection requires a subscription, passive scanning still works fine)

p.s. ewido found a few things the other two didn't. it certainly removes a lot more tracker cookies than spybot and ad-aware

Hey bro, pick up your phone.

About the SpyAxe thing: MyOldPost (http://forum.deadmen.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=12138&hl=spyaxe):
SpyAxe is an anti-spyware application that may be distributed and installed without a user’s knowledge or consent. The installed application functions up to the point when a user wants to remove a found infection, at which point the software requires purchase. The software may falsely alarm about infections, even prior to conducting a scan.
