Announcing the grand opening of our nice new 20 player GTL server. As of this afternoon 14:45hours -=[dMw]=-Dead Men Racing is up and running. So get your string backed gloves on and give it a whirl. Many thanks go to BlueBall who went to a lot of trouble copying discs, uploading a huge amount of data and listening to my mithering.
Thanks also to Gandy and the other admins for their help, understanding and sewing on all the sequins.
Thank you oh ye of the blues balls! :D
We are not worthy!
Right just time to get the dinner in the oven and then time for a test drive methinks :dribble:
Thanks for editing my post but it knowing the IP isn't necessary.

Welcome Deetzy boy. :D Just keep the place tidy.
Deetz, a great guy for picking the brains of. The right line through a corner, the right gear to be in and most importantly,
how to adjust your tappets correctly. This is 1965 remember.
well, I've just gone and ordered this. so I hope to see you chaps on the server at some point. I'll be the one running everyone off the road at the corners :P
WTB links to software retailer and decent driving wheel and pedal sets ;)
TL.
the game I ordered from amazon.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...5552041-9618849 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000AYCUS6/qid=1142264440/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/026-5552041-9618849)
as for the wheel, I've got one of the old logitech wheels that came with Gran Turismo on the PS2. It's a standard Logitech FF wheel with pedals.
This looks to be their replacement, which I believe Doorman has personally recommended in another thread :)
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products...CONTENTID=11066 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/GB/EN,CRID=2217,CONTENTID=11066)
Game ordered.........must decorate room before ordering steering wheel :)
TL.
The "other thread" (http://forum.deadmen.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=13123&view=findpost&p=119118) Price seems good :) My old wheel isn't FF so I might have to look into this :)
Just to briefly bring this back on topic. The server now has the following tracks installed:
Brno
A1 Ring
Brands Hatch
Misano
Nordschleife
Enna
Sachsenring
Oschesleben
and Virginia. These are in addition to the default tracks.
There are plenty of threads etc where you can download then so go to it!
I tell ya, there were some cracking races on tonight. 20 car start grids is really quite something! :D :dribble:

...and you said "is all this effort worth it?" ?
Guess it was. :)
Anyway, to drag it back off topic again which should I buy, the Logitech ES as mentioned by Ron or the more expensive Logitech MOMO? (Scan have it at about £68 and I get free postage from Scan)

If you really want to get the best get one of these (http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/-ps2-/logitech/242/272/marque.html) That's about the best price I've seen. Yes I know it says PS2 but it's for pc as well.
Just waiting for the wheel and the software to arrive and I'll give it a go.

ahh, you broke the first rule of internet shopping. Once you've purchased an item. Stop looking! That way you'll never find a cheaper deal :P

Jeez! There's hardly an excuse for not having a DFP now. I paid £100 + P&P last year. Or was it the year before? :(
Well as Scan seem to be out of stock...
http://www.darkplanets.co.uk/ps2/logitech-...g-force-pro.asp (http://www.darkplanets.co.uk/ps2/logitech-driving-force-pro.asp)
Have them at £65.88 with delivery. :D
Deetz.
Wheel arrived today.
OK What software do I need to download from the Logitech site to run this PS2 wheel on a PC or does it have a CD with drivers (box is in boot of car and it's raining so I'm not going to car park to see whats in it)
Mine arrived a few days ago. First attempt to run GTL resulted in it crashing my PC.
Patched with latest GTL patch and runs OK now but aint had time to use the wheel yet (what with watching 24, playing CZ, stares from wife making me feel guilty) :(

You don't need any software to get it running. Just plug it in. However, the best program to supplement it with is the Logitech Gaming Software which you can get here
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/download...,contentid=7309 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/downloads/software/US/EN,CRID=1786,contentid=7309)
For GTL intro se my guide here
