Title: ADSL demand tracker
Post by: smite on March 01, 2003, 11:39:59 PM
I noticed the other day that i am much closer to the Trigger limit for ADSL and was wondering if anyone knows how long BT take to upgrade an exchange once the trigger is reached?

Trigger 250 actual 231
..since thursday when i registered it has gone from 222 to 231.
Obviously i registered and maybe a few of my family members did even if they dont know what a Broadband is....or have a PC.

I predict the discovery and web registration of 19 people's interest in a broadband service for your area, all of whom mysteriously turn out to be long lost relations, never to be seen again after registration.......

My understanding is that those 'interests' have to be converted to 'orders' before anything happens.

I had an e-mail a few weeks ago i think it was from computer shopper or something similar.

QuoteBT needs no confirmation for speedier broadband upgrade.
BT Wholesale is taking the 42 day confirmation process out of its controversial broadband registration scheme, enabling the company to immediately begin upgrading 18 exchanges where registration has topped the trigger level or where the confirmation process is already in place.

Bruce Stanford, director of wholesale products at BT, said: 'We've seen more than 200,000 people register their interest in getting broadband since the registration scheme was launched and 10 exchanges are now live for broadband as a result. Fifteen more are being upgraded and today's announcement means a further 18 exchanges will immediately be moved into our build programme.'

The broadband demand registration scheme was introduced in July to track demand for broadband on a given exchange. BT Wholesale set target levels of registrations before it would consider upgrading an exchange, but following successfully meeting those levels, ISPs would then have to confirm those orders before upgrading would begin.

This final stage has now been removed and ISPs will be able to begin taking orders as soon as the trigger level for an exchange has been achieved. However, BT Wholesale has put in additional safeguards and will work with ISPs to 'detect and prevent frivolous or false registrations' which will be removed before upgrading work can begin.

Figures for broadband demand at exchanges where a trigger level has been set are available at //www.bt.com/broadband.

March is where the Honey Farm is, on the A something or other?

I used to buy loads of honey from there, back when we were mapping the region for The National Geographic. Although in the end they just put a big sign for swamps on the map and the words "Here Be Dragons - Keep Clear"

 :(
