The movie version...
I missed this when it came out, thought I use one of my free dvd rentals to get it. Now that I;ve seen it I have to say that it was horribly disappointing. It was so far removed from the excellent style of the books it was barely recogniseable. The plot was all messed up and twisted into a story that mostly missed the point. Some of the actors were pretty good, though others left a lot to be desired. It's an insult to Douglas Adams memory imo. Another over-hyped movie raped by Hollywood. One to avoid if you've ever gone near the books/radioshow. If yuo've watched it but not read the books then I encourage you to check them out as this film barely touched upon the humour.

I didnt read the book, and found it quite amusing :D
Allot that has not read the book finds it good aswell. Its not hard to belive that the movie isnt that good after reading the book.. 'Cous what movie based on a book is better than the actual book?

Found it pretty good. Had a few laughs looking the movie, don't know the book or so.
I'm not into books, at all, takes me all sorts of effort just to attempt to read something, Hitchhikers is genuinly the only books I've ever really got into & that have made me laugh out loud.
The film, mehh, its ok, nothing more than I expected after the brilliance of the books & loving the tv series as a kid.
If your brain works slightly differant ( like mine obviously does ) & you like your humour a bit more of on a tangent, try the books out for size.
Give the book a shot if you haven't. Adams has a good grasp at tangents and using them in a comedic way. I've re-read the entire series a few times and the Dirk Gently books also.
p.s. I didn't even see "tangent" in Rizzy's post until I re-read...maybe our minds are both warped  :roflmao:
I quite enjoyed the film.
I like cheese.
