Do you remember when people played BF2 here?

So true!
QuoteRemind them that chasing fairies in fantasy-land hold no candle to the raw power of a SAW cutting n00bs in half. Tell them how many servers you were kicked from because some n00b called "h4x" from your 1337ness. Try to be supportive, but don't let them drag you down into the abyssmal addiction that we all call WoW.

There have been some great games recently but numbers have certainly dropped off. I am not innocent myself but domestic demands mean I cant play as often as I did. I still try and get a few games in during the week. There are some great mods coming out in the coming months (POE2 & USI spring to mind) and perhaps the admins will consider hosting these on the former SF server. The new Op Peacekeeper mod is not bad, although it could do with a flag reduction on maps (and watch out for the sound bug, reduce your sound quality setting to medium if you fall foul). I did briefly consider trying out a MMMMMOMRG (Guild Wards) thingy but decided against it and bought a new video card instead and stuck with BF2.

I do enjoy the evenings on the hook, shame the BIG crowd moved to OBC as they were regulars, can someone send out a rallying cry and get the numbers back up. Are there still regular BF2 evenings. Sundays & Mondays seemed to be regulars with ok numbers on both sides but numbers have consistently dwindled.

I think that a lack of new maps is to blame, DICE never did this with BF1942, and perhaps the maps that were issued with BF2:SF should have been made playable on both BF2 & BF2:SF. All these booster packs are great but what about some new content for the vanilla servers. I wish I knew how to use that BF2 editor to create maps.

Finally, I just hope interest in BF2 does not die out totally, the fun I had last summer on your server was great.

True, lately I'm more active on the CZ part for the matches and so. Maybe a few games of BF2 would be allright for me. I'll see what I can do.
Lately there's alot of people playing:
a: WoW
b: GTL
c: BF2
d: CZ

For me CZ comes first lately because off the matches and so.

Yep we had good fun, but time moves on, as do people and new games come out, not necessarily a bad thing - as long as everyones having fun thats all that matters.

I would like to get some of the OBC guys onto the meathook for an away day but... its finding time, Im currently playing matches and practising for these at least 4 times a week!

When I'm not doing that, the dMw GTL server is my next port of call  :)

I sort of have a PhD to finish off, which is lessening the amount of time I have spare for gaming at the moment, but I manage to get in a few games of CZ or BF2 most weeks... problem is I get home quite late sometimes so miss the 8-9 pm slot.

Initially I dropped off BF2 because of WoW. Having flushed that addiction from my system somewhat (I still play, but only 3 times a week [ish] for 2 hours a time or so, instead of every night bar Saturdays from getting in from work to bed ;) ) I want to get back into BF2, but my ISP (Force9 / PlusNet) is still messing about with attempting QoS, it would seem. My ping is generally about 100, with spikes much higher, rather than the 20-40 it used to be. i'll be moving house soon (2 months or so), and will probably look for a new ISP. Can anyone recommend one that would be avaiable in the North West (Lancaster)? I tried to see if I could get hi-Velocity up here, but their site seems to require flash 8 in parts, and that's WIndows only (Macromedia stopped releasing updates for Linux after 7). I have no Windows boxes at work.

The map editor is really easy to use. I managed to rattle up a really basic 3 flag map in just over an hour with a few vehicles etc in. There's a getting started tutorial on the EA website - then once you pick that up its all quite easy and intuitive

I thought about giving GTL a go but then read all the bad press about Starforce so gave it a miss.

I hear what your saying Sync, I also had a chat with TL about it and understand the concerns, but at the end of the day, I haven't seen any ill effects on my pc - obviously if my dvd drive grinds to a halt I'll be the first to uninstall it, but so far I've not heard of any of my mates having problems with it either and... GTL is a lot of fun  :D

Is a steering wheel a must or could I get away with a joypad?

Get a wheel. It's essential to get the full enjoyment IMHO.

Me and Doris usually play BF2 with the BoD/OMFG guys, usually a full 32 man server and friendly faces around.

Ranked for all you medal whores. :P
