Title: Server Issues
Post by: OldBloke on May 08, 2006, 03:14:20 PM
Our good friends at Hi-V have identified the cause of our recent problems and all should now be back to normal. In fact, better than normal as a troublesome dog of a router has been replaced with a spinky brand new turbo nutter b*stard variety.

Game On. :)

Hope so!
It was dreadfull last night. Must say that our matchopponents wern't making alot of trouble over it.
Thanks for sorting it. I know we do complain about it but this was just a bit to much.

Thanks!

Dont know if anything has changed but Baldric was absolutely AWFUL again last night ..... lagging like hell ... thats why we thought we should try one of the others..(ie, razer) ...and it was superb ... not a whisper of any trouble... is there any difference to how these are set up ... cos if this present problem continues with Baldric...can we use razer for future matches ????

Strange

I'll look into the setups but off the top of my head I can't think what could cause that difference???

Only difference is that Baldric is running the ED configs.

I've had a look at the configs. Baldric has entries to force a specific speech engine plus speech quality whereas Razer does not. Additionally, the rates on Razer are 2000 - 18000 while Baldric is 2500 - 25000. Can't see any other differences. Might be worth ditching the voice codec entries on Baldric and restarting it to see if that helps?

Just can't see how a codec would cause the symptoms the guys experienced.

But by all means try a different one.

agreed - neither can I but I'll commecnt out the codec lines and restart Baldric so it runs on default codec. If it improves things great - if it doesn't then file under "weird" :)

I'd say give it a go, I assume voice codecs are not an ED requirement seeing as most others use TS or Ventrillo anyway?

set voice codec to speex using the following command in config file

sv_voicecodec speex

It had been set to miles. Razer was running on speex so i've set them both the same.
