I'm working for my upgrade now. Not sure if I can go to the next LAN. Going on my summerholiday in September which could get quit expensive. Fuerteventura and kitesurfing = expensive.

So if I bump this you can ignore Doormans post and if I miss out enough grammar and punctuation he'll start ignoring it which means I can say not the bloody 27th or that weekend thereof as I won't be able to go, and if I don't go I'll be upset and then I'll stop being a regular member so you can all to buggery get apart from those of you I like, comprende?

I almost daren't say I come to this one, as it was the kiss of death for the last two LANS.

So I'll stick to "There is nothing in my diary for October, so I may think about the possibility of maybe passing through March at some point, possibly maybe, who knows."

I would like an early notice again please so I can arange flighttrip and so (just call me a cheapskate). After chatting with Delan on the airport last LAN it seems that he'd be interested aswell and mayby mono was thinking of joining Delan. 8)

After the replies I've seen from others it seems that this may be the best visited LAN for -=[dMw]=- and as it's the 10th aniversary LAN I'm hoping for a good outcome. :)

Of course Paddy and I would like to come if there are spaces?

As there where spare spaces last time (though probably not this time from the sounds of things) we mentioned this to some of the OBC guys and they seemed very keen to join us if you guys don't mind?

How many people does it cater for?

44 or something close to that I think.
Title: dMw LAN X
Post by: smite on June 29, 2006, 06:31:30 PM
Last time i worked it out to be 44. no more due to no more tables or areas to place tables.
Title: dMw LAN X
Post by: DuVeL on June 30, 2006, 10:00:11 AM
44 places is correct.
Pen did the aranging last LAN for the seatingplan and he sended the plan to me.
Maybe a few more places could be aranged if ever needed but what would be handy then is I could get the measurements of the room and the size of the tables and so so I could make a scaled floorplan.
But then again, you'd want some space around you when you play.
All those sweaty men in a room and playing games... :dribble:  ;)

Post by: Penfold on June 30, 2006, 10:47:51 AM
I think 42 is the absolute maximum really and that'd be a push.

If you look at the attached plan you've got 6 per side on the long tables - really they should be 5 to give people a chance to space out. - that's like 36 people (or 42 with 6 per side).

I made the original plan of 44 and the plan was to scale with regard the room, window locations and table dimensions. Also all availible tables were used.

44 is the maximum.

The servers previously didnt require 4 tables.

There is no way that you can be comfortable on just 1/2 a table each. Perfect space is to have 3 ppl to ever 2 tables that little extra space make so much diffrence

Yes you're right Smite, an extra two places can be gained from the servers as necessary giving 44 people.

The original plan (nice work btw!) did have two more chairs on the server table.

I have a feeling that quite a few people will bring steering wheels and pedals next time. In combination with all the other stuff it will for sure take up the space.

Could you just place me a bit further away from NF and DA - all that "fugging" going on over there made me nervous   :narnar:

It is a case of do we want the maximum people to attend or to have more than enough room.

I believe that half a table was slightly cramped but not a problem. It worked for the very first LAN at that venue i can't see it being a problem again.

I will hopefully have a much lighter monitor next time so wont take up so much space :D
Seeing as Squ0nk may inherit my old one he will :P

Yeah, v. good point.

I think the problem used to be more as everyone have huge CRT's. Now with LCD's the space issue should hopefully be ameliorated somewhat.

I don't know who will be doing the seating plan this time - although I'm happy to offer my services as LAN Secretary (assisting Duv?) same as last time if that will help.

I ment like this:
Sheepy:
Clan Hawiian. Kills by blinding his enemies with his loud shirts, incapacitating them with his alcohol ridden breath and finishing them off with a full TMP clip. He has a terrible sense of direction and often confuses common kitchen appliances for latrines.

So, who's the Godfather on your lans, TL?
Title: dMw LAN X
Post by: Benny on August 09, 2006, 08:48:50 AM
No, TL is more like that Aunty you've got with a moustache who insists on kissing you, you know, the one that smells of lavender.

Security is handled by the fact that no-one wants to talk to a group of sad computer plebs who spend their weekend in a dark room surrounded by alcohol and tissues.

there isnt one he just has a neural interface for CZ.
This is the only way i can igue his reactions are so quick

Well to be honoust, I don't use a keyboard for CZ.
I use a Nostromo N52:
Quit a "handy" thing.
BTW, the fast reactions usually ocure due to the headset. Sound is one of the most important things in CZ. Getting shot in the back and then jump up and turn and knowing where your enemy is and shooting him is allways good.

I couldn't play without mine now. All quick keys assigned. No longer need to manically click buttons on action bars.

Several people like Dewey and Ranger and consorts also use it for BF2. I need to have a good setup myself for this aswell. I'm still using the standard keyboard config (BF2 is the only game I play with standard settings).

The only upside for using that strange gizmo that I can see is it leaves a hand free for beer or anything else that comes to mind (send in your answers on the back of a postcard).

Other than that it look terrifying.... Think I'll stick with my trusty keyboard.... y'know the one you can type your name on and such.
