Just got my hands on a 15 day eval copy of Vista, seems pretty good an flawless at the moment.
Had no problems what so ever :D and it pretty user friendly as well.
What do you think to it ?
Ask Doggers, he'll know. :)
I had a look at it and I quite look forward to getting it. Quite like the searching, because I hate looking through the start menu... It very swish looking too, aparently a lot more feature full than apples current Mac OS X according to PC Pro, but that isn't really a fair comparason because it's not out yet. Though I am wondering which of my games will work on it properly when it comes out.
How you get the beta?
Well you can apply off the MS website to beta test i think, but i got mine off usenet, no doubt there will be torrents that will have it also. However I dont think there is an easy way to get round the 15 day eval time, to make it more permanent.
Beta 2 for me so far plays UT2K4, WoW so i presume itll play all the modern games at present.
I have build 5384.4
The security is a lot stricter in Vista, I've seen many reports of games (particularly from EA) that only run as administrator and are awkward to get running in Vista

Good, about time too. Let's hope this ends the sloppy programming from all of those companies that expect the user to have admin rights to run a game!

Not got round to it yet - there's this really, really interesting paint I have to watch while it dries. Then I have all my bike spanners to line up...

Vista managed to hose a colleague's computer. He works as an IT consultant and still hasn't managed to rescue the PC. Go Vista!

Say no more.
ok went to instal it and it failed near the end and said that it would uninstall what it had put on, well numerous restarts and finally in to safe mode it had left 6 gig on 1 of my partition and 2 gig on my windows partition and wasnt letting me start xp "or legacy as ms puts it"
time to delete both chunks of data 6 HOURS!!!
time to empty recylce bin 4 HOURS!!
and now said h/d has failed , managed to format (to wipe evidence) it but it now has bad secters, good thing its only 3 weeks old and i backup everything on one of my other drives and i can still rma it
bill sort it out
Well, that is why it's called beta :P
theres some sort of help tool that tells you what programs are making your Windows slower..
a friend of mine had the following:
Internet explorer
and another ms program..
the irony? :lmfao:
I think i will buy it on launch though :). Maybe i will regret it :P.
The new IE i prefer to FF now, doesnt seem to take up as much memory either, which is always a bonus :D

All the more room for those viruses, trojans, scripts and exploits then... <_<
